The 2008 top grossing and 2nd top grossing movie of all time domestically to date, “The Dark Knight” will make a return nationwide, release visit to theaters on January 23,2009. Warner Bros wanted to give audiences one last chance to see it on the big screen which is what it was meant for. “The Dark Knight” was originally released in theaters on July 18,2008 and has grossed over $530 million domestically to which is second only to “Titanic” which starred Leonardo Di Caprio and grossed over $600 million domestically back in 1997. “The Dark Knight” stars : Christian Bale, Heath Ledger, Aaron Eckhart, Maggie Gyllenhaal, Gary Oldman, Michael Caine, Morgan Freeman .

The film brought back Christian Bale as Batman from the original “Batman Returns”movie, and director, Christopher Nolan. It also saw newcomers to the franchise which included the late Heath Ledger as the “Joker” in which he played one the best Jokers I’ve ever seen. It also brought in Aaron Eckhart as District Attorney, Harvey Dent who later became character, “Two Face” in the film do to an explosion accident which burned off one half of his face. The film is also currently out on blue-ray and dvd.

In the plot Batman set sets out to destroy organized crime in Gotham City for good with the help of Lieutenant Gordon(Gary Oldman) and District Attorney Harvey Dent, but the criminal mastermind,”Joker” makes that a very difficult task to pull off as he sends the entire city into anarchy and almost causes Batman to cross the line from being hero to vigilante.

I thought the movie was ok. I don’t think I would need to watch it again though especially not in the expensive theaters. Of course there’s not many movies that I need to watch over again. I mean I’ve heard of people going to see it again like 13 times at the theater. I can’t even imagine that. Even the best movie in the world gets old after a while especially when you’re spending $7 to $10 a pop to go see it again. Well, I guess to each is his own. It does however make some pretty good sense for Warner Bros to release it again so they can make some more spending money and they came up with a good “front” reason with the, “We wanna give moviegoers another chance to see it on the big screen”. That was absolute genius;I wish I had been in on it. Check out “The Dark Knight” movie trailer below.

  • Sweet! I might be the only one who *didn’t* see this the first time it was open so I’m excited to get the whole theatre experience.
