Extra,Extra ! Read all about it ! According to Shocktillyoudrop . It’s been confirmed. A new “Nightmare on Elmstreet” remake is in the works.Producers, Brad Fuller and Andrew Form hope to start filming it in the spring of 2009 and have it released sometime in 2010. Fuller and Form said that it was the excellent response from the recent “Friday the 13th” remake which they also produced that gave the Elmstreet remake the greenlight by Warner Bros. and New Line Cinemas. They’ve apparently been test screening the new “Jason Voorhees”film and it has been going well.

The producers said they want to make the “Elmstreet” remake even darker. No more cracking jokes like in the past. They just want to make it straight up scary. It will be similar to the original installment ,but they will borrow ideas from the entire series in terms of dream and kill scenes. They are also looking for someone to replace Robert England as Freddy, but hope to get him back to play a different role in the film.

Well,it’s been obvious for some time now that most of what Hollywood is doing now is remakes so this absolutely does not come as any surprise to me. For cryin out loud, they’re the same people who produced the “Friday the 13th” remake. This isn’t only happening in movies. It’s also happening in tv as well with the whole “Terminator : Sarah Conner Chronicles”,”CW’s 90210″,and a rumored “Melrose Place” remake. It’s pretty apparent that these people are like look,”Let’s just digg up some of the old successful stuff ,redo it,and dress it up with some more modern themes. I personally don’t have a real big problem with this, but I have to admit it’s really refreshing when I see something original these days. However these remakes will make money so financially it does make sense to make them, and heck I know I’m gonna go see both the “Friday the 13th” and “Elmstreet” remakes just to see the new stuff that they’ve done with them.
