Kelly Clarkson Set To Make ‘Billboard’ Chart History

Former and first American Idol winner, Kelly Clarkson is set to make music history on the Billboard music charts with her new single, “My Life Would Suck Without You”. It’s set to make the biggest leap to number 1 in the chart’s 50 year history by going from 97 to 1 on January 29,2009 . The reason is because it has sold 280,000 digital downloads in it’s first week of being released. It’s also doing pretty well on the radio jumping 20 spots from 58 to 38 on the hot 100 Airplay chart, and it jumped 7 spots from 27 to 18 on the Mainstream Top 40 list.
This is the second time she has broken the Billboard chart’s record. The first time was back in 2002 with her first ever single from “American Idol” entitled, “A Moment Like This” which jumped about 52 spots going from 52 to 1 back on October 5, 2002. Since then that record has been broken a couple more times. Most notably by Britney Spears recent hit, “Womanizer” which jumped 96 spots to hit number 1. This will be Kelly’s first single to hit number 1 since her debut single, “A Moment Like This”. She has, however placed a couple of other songs in the top ten. One of which is her April 2005 hit, “Since U Been Gone”. Her new single is off of her new album, “All I ever wanted”. It’s set to be released on March 10,2009 with RCA Records label.
“Since U Been Gone” is probably one of the only songs of hers I ever really liked. I still thinks she’s the best pure singer to ever compete on “American Idol”.
