According to an interview that Jackie Chan gave to 3news, “The Karate Kid” movie remake he’s been working on with Will Smith’s son, Jaden is going to have it’s named changed to the “Kung Fu Kid” or so they’re contemplating anyways. I’m not sure how much it will effect the ticket sales. I personally don’t care if they change the name, but that’s only because I know it’s a remake of the “Karate Kid”. However, the millions of other people who might not know, may hurt the film’s box office performance.

A name just isn’t a name in Hollywood. It’s hard to build up one, and when you do, you hold onto it. It’s how you’re recognized,and it’s definitely how this movie would be recognized. So I’m not sure that this would be the best decision.Oh, well I thought the movie was getting to far away from the original script anyways, since Jaden is much younger than the original Karate Kid, Ralph Macchio. In this film, he’ll be more of a junior high student than a high school student which I think might take away from the interest of the movie. A lot of what I liked about it, was that it had a high school setting an all. Who knows, though, maybe they’ll suprise me.

Jackie Chan will be playing the part of Mr. Miyagi and Jaden Smith will be Danny Larusso. That will be another odd thing. Danny Larusso, is clearly an Italian name,and Jaden Smith is anything but Italian. We’ll wait and look for further developments. The film is supposed to start shooting when Jackie is done filming his current movie, “Big Soldier”.
