Review : ‘Fast & Furious 4′ Blazes In
Fast & furious, the 2009 version, started right off the bat with an exciting, live in your face, high speed car chase that ended with a huge explosion. Unfortunately for Michelle Rodriguez, her role as Letty was short lived as she was killed off by one of Braga’s men. The plot of the film is that Braga is the leader of an illegal drug trafficing organization. They’re looking for drivers to help drive their expensive product over the Mexican border without getting caught by border patrol. Dominic Toretto (Vin Diesel) who was dating Letty is very upset that she was killed and when he finds out Braga is behind it, he tries out to be a driver so he can eventually get to him.
Brian O’Conner (Paul Walker) also finds out about it because he’s part of the FBI,and is now reinstated as an agent. So they’re both involved in another dangerous high speed race through a very high traffic city, and the winner gets the prize of being a driver for Braga. Dominic cheats his way to the finish line, but Brian is still able to make his way onto the squad with a little FBI help. So both O’Conner and Toretto are eventually able to team up and bring down Braga and his men in another classic Fast & Furious high speed, electrifying ending. I think they also left this one open for another sequel at the end which I wouldn’t mind.
My Take : Although I liked the movie, I really have to knock off major points for originality. This movie stunk of the 2nd installment with Tyrese Gibson. It’s the exact same type of plot where they race to be drivers for some drug toting criminal in an eventual effort to bring him down. Now, was it still entertaining ? Absolutely. Any movie with high speed car chases, fighting, beautiful women, and explosions is going to be entertaining. So in that aspect, the movie was great. I really like Paul and Vin’s on air chemistry. I wished they hadn’t killed of Michelle Rodriguez’s character. No more possible Fast & Furious sequels for her. I also really like Jordana Brewster. I don’t know what it is about her. She just has a really nice aura or something apart from being cute as hell. Anyways, I would have loved to see her drive more. She really looked good behind the wheel at the ending of the film. If you like the classic Fast & Furious car chases, fighting, explosions, etc. Then you should go check this one out.
