According to Variety, 20th Century Fox hasn’t wasted anytime and has already confirmed the production of the X-Men spinoff, “Deadpool” movie . The character was played by Ryan Reynolds in the “X-Men Origins: Wolverine” film . Reynolds will now get to star in his own solo super hero movie as “Deadpool”. Deadpool’s character was originally Wade Wilson, a man who was dying of cancer. But after a voluntary Weapon X genetic alteration experiment, he becomes an indestructible swordsman. Then, he became “Deadpool” when Stryker combined all the powers of the original mutant team into him,and sealed is babbling mouth shut.

“Deadpool” is supposedly one of the most popular characters in the X-Men comics. “Deadpool” will be produced by Lauren Shuler Donner and Marvel. Read the rest of this entry »

On “American Idol” final four elimination night (5-6-09),the show started with a performance from the contestants. Then we got to see Paula Abdul perform for the first time, live on “American Idol”,and for the first time in a very long time,period. I must say it was pretty good,and the song wasn’t half bad. I absolutely loved the choreography. She performed her new single entitled, “I’m Just (Here for the Music)”off her new album to be released this fall.

Kris Allen was the first one to find out that he was safe this week. After that we saw performances from “No Doubt” and “Daughtry”. No Doubt performed one of their old hits, “I’m Just A Girl”, and Daughtry performed their new single,“No Surprise” from their second album to be released in July 2009. Read the rest of this entry »

Choreographer ,singer,and judge, Paula Abdul made the last minute decision to perform her new single, “I’m Just (Here for the Music)”,on tomorrow’s (5-6-09) American Idol Results show . Paula said she wasn’t sure if she wanted to perform it when she was given the last minute offer by the show’s producers. But she confirmed that she would indeed perform it on Ryan Seacrest’s radio show Tuesday (5-5-09) morning.

She said that she put everything together on Saturday ,and then rehearsed it on Sunday and felt really good about it. She will be joined with performances by “No Doubt” and “Daughtry. This will be Paula’s first live performance on “American Idol”, and I must say that I’m pretty excited to see it. She’s kept in great shape especially for her age,and I’m really curious to see what all she can still do. Her new album is set to release in the fall of 2009.

With the opening, weekend box office success of “X-Men Origins : Wolverine”, there is no doubt that there will be at least a sequel or two. But also there are more spinoffs in the works for this franchise. The first and most likely one to date, which I already knew about since I reported on it a couple of months ago is “X-Men Origins : Magneto” which will trace back to the early years of Eric Lensherr and Charles Xavier ,and how they eventually become enemies after being friends at first. This particular spinoff has actually been waiting in the wings for some time now. The writer / director , David Goyle said it’s release would be contingent on the success of the “Wolverine” film so I’m pretty sure it’s going to get green lighted. Read the rest of this entry »

Screen Gems a division of Sony Corp is the first studio to get Christina Aguilera into a starring movie role in their new, musical film called, “Burlesque”.Although, she has four Grammy Awards,jewelry and perfume deals,and has sold over 25 million albums. She has yet to actually star in a movie. She has done voice over work for the animated flick, “Shark Tale”.

In the plot of Burlesque, Aguilera will play a smalltown girl with a big voice who goes to Los Angeles, and eventually finds love,success,and a family do to her successful career in cabaret. She works at a Los Angeles neo-burlesque club which appears to be inspired by Bo Fosse’s “Cabaret”. Screen Gem’s Clint Culpepper actually stated that this film was written with Christina in mind so they are very excited to actually have her on board. Read the rest of this entry »

Usher and Island Records are currently working with a new, young, 15 year old singer named, Justin Beiber who they discovered on “Youtube” back in 2007. It was a homemade video of him singing in a local talent show. He then got a chance meeting with singer / songwriter / producer, Usher which eventually led to a recording contract offer in October of 2008 by Island Def Jam chairman Antonio “L.A.” Reid.

The very impressed Usher states that Bieber is definitely a priority for him and Island Def Jam records. Justin has already produced his first single entitled, “One Time” which is produced by Chris “Tricky” Stewart. The video for the song has also been shot as of April 27,2009. Recording artists, “The Dream”, and “Midi Mafia” will collaborate with young Justin on his first album which will be entitled, “My World”. It’s reported that it will be released later in 2009. Gossip Girl’s new spinoff show now entitled, “Valley Girls” will give us a brief look at what to expect from it on Monday May 11,2009 in episode 24 of season 2 “Gossip Girl : Valley Girls”. In this episode,Lily will have flashbacks of her younger self played by Brittany Snow. It will show her wild younger years,and when she was pursuing a young rocker named, Rufus Humphrey.

The show was originally named “Lily” as it takes us back to the teenage years of character, Lily van der Woodsen who’s maiden name will be Rhodes in the spinoff. Read the rest of this entry »

This news may be kind of late ,but heck I just found out about it today. This is actually a two story deal. Yes, there is going to be a 5th installment for the popular cheerleading, movie franchise, “Bring it On”. This one is going to be entitled, “Bring It On : Fight to the Finish”. It will star Grammy nominated recording artist, Christina Milian.

This movie,just like all the other ones with the exception of the very first one,will go straight to dvd. However, these “Bring It On ” dvds are top selling dvds because the franchise does have a big following every since it debuted in 2000 with the Kirsten Dunst / Eliza Dushku original which grossed about $63 million in box office ticket sales. This franchise has had a lot of famous actors and actresses in it usually just before they’ve broken out and became big. The plot will be similar in nature to the third installment they had out entitled, “Bring it On : All Or Nothing” back in 2006 with Hayden Panettiere. Read the rest of this entry »

There are some big names ready to perform on “American Idol’s” rock week, May 6,2009. Chris Dauhtry and his band,”Daughtry” which consists of :himself,Josh Steely,Josh Paul,Joey Barnes,and Brian Craddock will perform. Chris was the fourth place finalist on “American Idol’s” 5th season back in 2006. After that, he was given a record deal by RCA records. His band then went on to sell more than 1 million copies of it’s first album entitled, “Daughtry” within just five weeks of it’s release date.It has now also sold 4,422,000 copies to date.

Also popular rock band “No Doubt” will perform. And former “Gun’s N Roses” guitarist, Slash will be the contestant’s mentor on the May 5, 2009 contestants performance show. Read the rest of this entry »

20th Century Fox’s X-Men Origins : Wolverine sliced,slashed, and diced it’s way to the top of the box office this weekend by bringing in $87 million dollars in ticket sales,and I can’t say why it shouldn’t have. It was an excellent movie.Apparently the movie being leaked online about a month are so ago did not affect it’s ticket sales to much,but who knows? It might have done $100 million this weekend had it not been for the online leaking. It starred Hugh Jackman as Logan / Wolverine, and went back in time to the character’s origins to show how Logan came to be the intense slashing mutant. Read the rest of this entry »
