According to Hollywood Reporter , R&B star Chris Brown pleaded guilty to one count of felony assault on pop star Rihanna. He entered his plea before a preliminary hearing was supposed to start in Los Angeles on Monday June 22,2009. Rihanna was reported to be on standby to testify. Chris Brown is going to be sentenced on August 5,2009. However, he has agreed to a plea deal which would just give him five years of formal probation and 6 months of community labor.

They said that Chris will be able to complete his probation in his hometown of Virginia. He will have to do either graffiti removal or roadside cleanup for his service. Chris will also be required to attend domestic violence classes.

A Los Angeles County district attorney’s spokeswoman said the terms are what other people besides Chris Brown would get, if faced with similar charges without any prior criminal offenses. The judge also ordered that Chris stay away from Rihanna with a court issued “stay away order”. Chris cannot go within 50 yards of Rihanna except at industry events where he can go up to 10 yards away from her. The judge also said it’s not a one way order. Rihanna cannot go near him either,and would be in violation if she chose to go near him.

The judge said she thought it was commendable that he took responsibility for his actions and plead guilty. She also said that she hopes his punishment will carry some meaning with him.

I figured he would get out of doing some jail time some kind of way.
