Blast magazine recently had a sit down with “Twilight” and “New Moon” movie star Mike Welch. He plays the human, Mike Newton in the “Twilight Saga” films. He talked about the differences between filming in Portland and Vancouver. He said he liked the city of Vancouver more than Portland in not so many words. He also said that he’ll be at the Twilight Vampire Baseball Event in Portland on July 4th weekend.

He talked about some of the charity work he’s done in the past. Then they talked about all the “Twilight Saga” apparel that’s been popping up,and he said that he’s seen a couple of Team Mike stuff pop up here and there, but it’s mostly Team Edward and Jacob stuff that’s out there. He also said he would pick Team Jacob over Team Edward because Jacob presents a more practical relationship. He talked about some daring things he did in high school,and how his neighbors ran a meth lab in his hometown where he grew up.

He also revealed that he was a lot like Mike Newton when he was in high school. He shared how Taylor and Kristen lobbied to get a scene of him in the movie that the producers were contemplating not putting in. He stated, “You know it’s a tricky thing when you try and turn a book into a movie because a movie is only two hours and there’s only so much you can fit in, but yeah, what they originally did was they took that moment between Jacob and Bella and put it in a different scene of the movie. Luckily Taylor and Kristen lobbied that scene for me to Chris Weitz saying it absolutely had to be in, and it’s a good scene. They weren’t really lobbying for me, it’s just, how can you not have that scene in there? Yeah, so I was really happy to hear that, and it was great for me because I got to do Mike’s best scene in the book.”

He concluded with saying that pictures of some of the cast members smoking cigarettes on the set is about as scandalous as these people get,lol!!!
