According to the Associated Press, Alaska Governor and 2008 Vice President nominee Sarah Palin surprised everyone today July 3,2009 by announcing that she is resigning from office at the end of July without giving a real reason why.
She quickly called together a news conference Friday morning at her home in suburban Wasilla. They say it was really short notice which caused only a few reporters to be able to make it to the announcement.
Security blocked out late arriving media outside her home. Dave Murrow here spokesman came out and confirmed that Sarah will be stepping down on July 26,2009. He would not give any details about her future plans.
There are speculations that she quit because she’ll be able to make a lot of money on speaking engagements and things of that nature since she’ll be considered a regular citizen at that point. And then maybe later on down the line, she may decide to make a return to politics.
