Watchmen’s Jackie Earle Haley who is set to play the new Freddie Krueger in the “Nightmare on Elm Street” remake, confirmed that he has signed on for two more sequels in an interview with bloody-disgusting.com. So that’s three in total.
The first remake is set to hit theaters April 16,2010. The film will also features the “New Moon” and “Twilight” star Kellan Lutz as the character of Dean who will fall victim to a quick death before the opening credits role to get the audience interested. So he won’t be sticking around as much as he does in the “Twilight Saga” films, but at least he gets to be in a classic horror production.
The premise for the “Nightmare on Elm Street” film is that Krueger is burned to death by angry parents for molesting children, but then he returns with a burnt face to terrorize teens in their dreams. This new version is reported to be a lot more scarier than the originals. Not as many jokes, I’ve heard.
Jackie Earle Haley also played Rorschach in the big “Watchmen” movie that premiered earlier this year.
