‘Supernatural’ Season 5 Promo: Sam’s Messenger Is Touchy, Feely

We’ve managed to scrape up another minute and something long promo for the upcoming 5th season of CW’s “Supernatural”. This promo (below) looks quite interesting, and Sam (Jared Padalecki) meets a new admirer that can’t quite seem to quit touching him on his chest.

I don’t know which season 5 episode this clip is from, but it starts out with Sam and Dean sitting in a motel room. Dean’s watching the news, when they all of a sudden, hear a knock on the door. Sam goes to answer it. Then we see a very flustered young lady named Becky saying, “Sam is that You ?”

She seems really taken with him,and starts touching his chest. She says, “You’re so firm.” Sam, apparently doesn’t know her,but she knows him,and she has a secret message for them. She says, Chuck Edmond sent her to them. She said he had a vision that Michael’s sword is on Earth, and the Angels lost it.

I’m guessing it’s weapon that they really need. She goes on to tell them where Chuck said it might be. Then Becky continues to touch Sam. Sam asks her if she could stop touching him,and she says, “No”. It’s pretty funny.

“Supernatural” Season 5 premieres Thursday September 10,2009 at 8pm central time on the CW.

I usually like the humor on Supernatural, but this was just sort of awkward and uncomfortable to watch. The guys are very attractive, yes, but they’re not ALL that. Having a character on the show interact with Sam in the same way that some overzealous fans interact with Jared is blurring a line between fiction and real life in a way that was funny once, in last season’s ‘Monster at the End of this Book’, but loses comedic value with each revisit. I hope the writers are done with this shtick for a while.

I wouldn’t say awkward but yeah, it’s getting old now. Still can’t wait for the 5th season to start!
