Jay-Z & Alicia Keys Moved 2009 MTV VMA Crowd With Latest Single

Jay-Z arrived late to the 2009 MTV Video Music Awards. He pulled up in a limousine at Radio City Music Hall about 2 hours after the show started. He closed out the show performing an ode to New York with a song entitled, “Empire State of Mind” (video below) from his latest album entitled, “The Blueprint 3.” He performed it with R&B star, Alicia Keys. Images of the Bronx Bombers stadium flashed behind Jay-Z as he rapped.
Jay-Z rapped the lyrics, “Yeah, I’m up at Brooklyn, now I’m down in Tribeca.Right next to De Niro, but I’ll be ‘hood forever/ I’m the new Sinatra and since I made it here/ I can make it anywhere, yeah, they love me everywhere.”
Alicia sung the chorus, “In New York/ Concrete jungles where dreams are made of/ There’s nothing you can’t do.Now you’re in New York/ These streets will make you feel brand new/ The lights will inspire you/ Let’s here it for New York, New York, New York.”
The song had a really good beat to it,and really moved the whole crowd. Then as the song came to a close, female rapper, Lil Mama made a surprise appearance and inserted herself into the song. She did a B-girl stance beside Jay-Z and Alicia Keys as they posed at the end.
