Overture Films is coming out with a new psychological thriller entitled, “Law Abiding Citizen,” and from the looks of the movie trailer (below), it looks pretty damn good. It stars : Jamie Foxx, Gerard Butler, Bruce McGill, Colm Meaney, Leslie Bibb, Michael Irby, Regina Hall, and Viola Davis.

“Law Abiding Citizen” focuses around a character named Clyde Shelton (Gerard Butler) whose wife and daughter are brutally murdered during a home invasion.Nick Rice (Jamie Fox) who is a new ,young Philadelphia prosecutor is forced by his boss to offer a light sentence to the murderer in exchange for testifying against his accomplice.

From there, the movie fast forwards ten years into the future where the murderer is found dead. Clyde Shelton admits to doing it, and warns Nick Rice, that if he doesn’t fix the flawed justice system, key people that were in his trial are going to die.

Clyde eventually follows through on his threats from his jail cell. His string of assassinations occur in a fashion that could ever be predicted or prevented. Now, the whole city is in fear,as high profile people are mysteriously getting killed, one right after the other.

Nick is the only one who can stop it,and to do it, he must outwit the brilliant Clyde Shelton. The movie eventually comes down to a race against time between him and the deadly Clyde Shelton who always seems to be one step ahead of him.

“Law Abiding Citizen” hits theaters on October 16,2009.
