Lil Wayne To Go To Jail For A Year Over Gun Possession
Rap star,Lil Wayne is set to go to jail for a year over gun possession charges,according to E! online. They report that Lil Wayne struck a deal with Manhattan prosecutors and pleaded guilty today to attempted weapons possession in exchange for a one year prison sentence.
He went before the Manhattan Criminal Court Judge Charles Solomon and confessed to a felony count of attempted criminal possession of a weapon in the second degree. They allowed him to stay out of jail on his current $30,000 bond,but he had to give up his passport.
This criminal ordeal apparently happened two years ago when police searched his tour bus after a concert at the Beacon Theater in New York City,and found a loaded 40-caliber pistol.
He was initially booked for one count of criminal weapons possession and one count of criminal possession of a loaded gun. The charges for those offenses would have carried a much heavier sentence than the one he got,which would have been about three and a half years of prison time,with a maximum of 15 years.
Lil Wayne’s sentencing is is scheduled for February.
