Lawyer John O’ Quinn gets killed in fatal SUV car accident, according to the Los Angeles Times. John O’ Quinn was a Houston trial lawyer who won a $1 billion verdict in a diet drug case while representing Texas in tobacco litigation.
They report that he died in a car crash earlier today,and that he was 68 years old. They say him and the driver were killed when their SUV slammed into a tree in Houston,TX.
Apparently,John O’Quinn had a really big track record as a lawyer,winning multiple cases that involved many millions of dollars. He also shared in $3.3 billion in legal fees after representing Texas in a $17.3 billion settlement with the tobacco industry.
He was also a donor to Texas causes which included the Houston Council on Alcohol and Drugs. Richard Laminack who was a partner of his at the firm stated, “He left a big mark on the city of Houston.”
