Twilight ‘New Moon’ opening day & midnight sales easily broke records. According to reports from Reuters, the Summit Entertainment hit movie, “Twilight Saga: New Moon” broke the record for single day sales for the North American box office.

It earned $72.7 million across the United States and Canada on Friday. It also broke the midnight record sales,with $26.3 million. The old record for single day sales was about $62.2 million,which was held by the “Batman” sequel “The Dark Night.”

Last year the original “Twilight” movie brought in $70 million over it’s entire opening weekend, so “New Moon” has definitely outlapped it by leaps and bounds,and it’s only Saturday. They say it’s expected to do at least $125 million before the weekend is up. We shall see.
