Mary J Blige delivered strong, vocal ‘I Am’ at the 2009 American Music Awards. Mary J. Blige performed her new song, “I Am” at the 2009 American Music Awards last night (video below). I thought the beat was ok,and the vocals were strong. Of course,it’s Mary J. Blige,so I wouldn’t expect anything less.

As she kept performing,she started to deliver more facial expressions and arm movements,injecting more personality into it. Then, she just grabbed that mic and started walking and dancing around the stage.

She showed more and more personality,as the performance went on. They showed Jay-Z in the audience. He was clapping his hands to the beat. He seemed to be enjoying it.

I liked how the song repeats the “Nobody,Nobody” part. It gave it a little more flavor. As the performance neared its end, Mary started really getting into it,hitting the vocals even harder. Even Perez Hilton who was in the audience, had to bob his head to this one.

The crowd loved it and gave her a big applause at the end.
