NBC Says Conan O’Brien Should Blame Himself For ‘Tonight Show’ Failure

NBC says Conan O’Brien should blame himself for ‘Tonight Show’ failure. According to TMZ, people over at NBC are saying that Conan O’Brien should be blaming himself for his “Tonight Show” failure, and that his contract never specified a guaranteed time slot.

They report that some high level people who oversee “The Tonight Show” are saying Conan has himself to blame for his “Tonight Show” failure because he refused to take notes from his bosses, saying, “I do what I do.” Also Conan’s contract never specified a guaranteed time period, which means that NBC could run the show at any time slot they wanted, and he would have no defense. They say Conan’s reps never asked for a guaranteed time slot when they negotiated his contract. However, Jay Leno’s deal specifically guarantees the 10pm time slot, which means NBC has to renegotiate a new deal with Jay before he moves back to the 11:35pm time slot.

The only thing NBC guaranteed Conan, was that he would host “The Tonight Show,” and they have to make good on that promise. Conan’s legal position on the time slot, was that he thought it was an implied guarantee that the show would keep the 11:35pm time given the show’s history. Conan is meeting with NBC executives today to negotiate something, probably a settlement. Stay tuned.

    Fire everyone then.

Leno cannot survive this disgraceful behavior and humiliating failure.

  • Matt:

“Your contract did not explicitly state that we would not murder you and rape your corpse, therefore there is nothing wrong with us murdering you and raping your corpse.”

    Yeah, real classy NBC.
