‘The Lovely Bones’ movie told a pretty interesting yet long story. Dreamworks Picture unleashed its long, interesting movie, “The Lovely Bones” this weekend in nationwide release. I just watched it,and it was pretty interesting and unique, but I think it ran way too long. Towards the end, I was like, can we wrap this up already? Maybe it was because I had to pee. I don’t know, but I was ready for it to be over about 30 minutes before it actually ended. It stars: Mark Wahlberg, Rachel Weisz, Susan Sarandon, Stanley Tucci, Michael Imperioli, and Saoirse Ronan.

“The Lovely Bones” movie revolves around a young 14 year old girl named Susie Salmon (Saoirse Ronan), and her family. Susie is a very happy girl until one day her neighbor, George Harvey (Stanley Tucci) from across the street becomes responsible for her untimely death. The movie gets very interesting after her death as it continues to show her life from beyond the grave.

She’s apparently in the “in between” world, which is between Heaven and Earth. She can still see the things on Earth, but also enjoys the bliss of Heaven. She’s caught up in a mental battle to leave her earthly life behind and be happy in heaven,or to focus on her earthly family and let the anger keep building up over her killer. The movie shows how the family keeps trying to find out who the killer is and Susie watching over them from the “in between.” It ends with a nice little twist for Susie’s killer in the end, which I think everyone should enjoy.

Overall, I thought the movie was very interesting and unique. I just wish they could’ve ended it a little sooner. I thought it kind of dragged out a little too long, but other than that,it was pretty good.

Grade: B
