‘Legion’ movie gets mediocre reviews from movie critics. Screen Gems has released it’s latest supernatural/action movie creation, “Legion” to the theaters today. It stars: Paul Bettany, Dennis Quaid, Tyrese Gibson, Jon Tenney, Charles S. Dutton, Lucas Black, Kate Walsh, Doug Jones, Adrianne Palicki, Kevin Durand, and Willa Holland. It has gotten some pretty mediocre reviews from a couple of professional movie critics on the net. Some of them thought it was great, just ok,and then absolutely horrible. I think that the usual top critics in the biz were cut off from pre-screening the film. The studios do that sometimes, but these critics took the time to find a way to watch it and give a review.

IF Magazine gave it 4 and a half stars. They said, “The new film has some undeniably cool action sequences and a serious, soulful performance by Paul Bettany as an angel who wants to help humankind…..LEGION is lively enough….the action with Bettany is actually memorable…..The script and the cast also contribute some good character moments, particularly Dutton and Gibson.”

Box Office Prophets gave it 3 and a half stars. They said, “With actors like Dennis Quaid, Tyrese Gibson, Paul Bettany, Charles S. Dutton, and Doug Jones (of Guillermo Del Toro movies like Pan’s Labyrinth), Legion may end up transcending its plotline with a first-rate cast…..After all, an actor can only pretend to be shocked by cataclysmic weather patterns so much before it looks silly…..Movies with a heavy religious bent are, honestly, a bit of a crapshoot these days…..Quaid, of course, still remains an incredibly underrated and underutilized actor.”

Deadcentral.com gave it only two stars. They stated, “Half the movie is ridiculously predictable, complete with a gun-packing, rap-blasting Tyrese, British sounding angels and the punk rock possessed…..Legion may be your ideal Saturday night…..There’s no coming back from bad writing…..By the 2,600th day Heidi Montag had turned herself into a blow-up doll with a heartbeat and super blinking action…..Legion proceeds to offend your eyes and ears for the next 100 minutes, making the ordeal feel like three hours, no doubt using angel magic.”

Dustinputman.com gave it 2 and a half stars. He said, ” It had what it takes to stand as an enjoyable thriller….their ruinous handprints taint a film that is perfectly efficient most of the time and disastrously inept for the remainder…..Sadly, a far better, more cohesive picture probably exists somewhere on the cutting room floor…..The film, signaling unmistakable post-production tinkering and amateurish editing, crashes and burns during an anticlimactic third act….The characters, archetypes all of them, are nonetheless likable.”

Fearnet.com gave it a very bad zero stars. They say, “At its core, Legion is deeply cynical….The high-caliber cast is wasted on the extremely cliched dialogue.” “Legion” movie is in theaters now.
