Jersey Shore Cast Rejects MTV’s Initial Season 2 Salary Offer

Jersey Shore cast rejects MTV’s initial season 2 salary offer. According to TMZ, the cast of MTV’s hit reality show, “Jersey Shore” has rejected MTV’s first salary offer that they put on the table for a season 2,stating that it was too low. They report that MTV offered Snooki,Pauly D, “The Situation,” and the others a $10,000 signing bonus and $5,000 an episode. The cast rejected the offer and made it clear that they were negotiating “Friends” style, everyone would get the same amount, and that it needs to be a lot higher than what they’re currently offering.
MTV came back and doubled the offer to $10,000 an episode. the cast has not yet responded to that offer. They say that the season finale of “Jersey Shore” had huge ratings with 4.8 million viewers. Also, some of the castmembers of MTV’s “The Hills” get around $100,000 an episode, so $10,000 is still quite low for the “Jersey Shore” cast, considering that they get way more viewers than “The Hills” does.
MTV does have a contractual hold on the cast for one more year so the cast doesn’t really have a right to negotiate, but it’s done all the time with hit shows. An MTV spokesperson wouldn’t comment on negotiations, and said that MTV hasn’t made a decision on bringing “Jersey Shore” back for a 2nd season . Also, MTV has received thousands of tapes from other wanna-be Guidos and Guidettes. Stay tuned.
