Chris Matthews said he forgot Obama was black on ‘State Of Union.’ According to the New York Daily News, MSNBC’s Chris Matthews gave an odd comment about Barack Obama and his “State of the Union Address”, stating ” I forgot he was black.” They say he was analyzing Barack Obama’s State of the Union address and said, “I forgot he was black tonight for an hour. He’s gone a long way to become a leader of this country and past so much history in just a year or two. I mean it’s something we don’t even think about. I was watching and I said, wait a minute, he’s an African-American guy in front of a bunch of other white people and there he is, President of the United States, and we’ve completely forgotten that tonight — completely forgotten it.”

Later on, on MSNBC, Rachel Maddow asked him more about the comment in an attempt to get his meaning of it. He said he was trying to say Obama’s leadership has shattered a black-white divide in American politics. You can read the story over at New York Daily News by Clicking Here.
