Drea De Matteo to leave ABC’s ‘Desperate Housewives’ in May. According to Access Hollywood, Drea de Matteo who plays character, Angie Bolen on the show, is set to leave in May. They say that Marc Cherry who is the show’s series creator said, that Drea wasn’t meant to be a long-running series regular. He stated, “Part of the deal when we hired Drea was she was only interested in doing one season. She has a baby and is eager to get back to her life in New York.”
Marc also revealed that they will start revealing more things about Angie towards the end. He stated, “As we build toward the end and we start undoing the many layers of Angie, everyone will get how brilliant she is.” They also report Dana Delaney may leave “Desperate Housewives” as well for a new role in “Body of Evidence,” which is an upcoming ABC medical drama.
