Top Critics Gave ‘Brooklyn’s Finest’ Movie Mediocre Reviews

Top critics gave ‘Brooklyn’s Finest’ movie mediocre reviews. Overture films released its new crime/drama movie today entitled, “Brooklyn’s Finest.” It stars: Richard Gere, Ethan Hawke, Don Cheadle, Jesse Williams, Ellen Barkin, Wesley Snipes, Lili Taylor, Brian F. O’Byrne, Shannon Kane, Will Patton,and Vincent D’Onofrio. The top movie critics gave it pretty mediocre reviews. One of them gave it a whopping F,but besides that,it got mostly Cs and a couple of Bs.

Ty Burr from the Boston Globe gave it a C. He stated, it “feels written rather than observed.” Roger Ebert from the Chicago Sun-Times gave it a B rating. He said, “The film and the actors do a good job of establishing these characters in their own lives.”

Michael Phillips from the Chicago Tribune gave it a C. He stated, “It’s a movie you truly want to like, because it reminds you of movies you did, most of them made by Sidney Lumet.” Peter Paras from E! Online gave it a C. He said, it was, “the A-list cast can’t elevate Brooklyn’s Finest into something that’s more than just OK.”

Lisa Schwarzbaum over at “Entertainment Weekly” gave it a C. She stated, “the clichés keep coming.” Sean O’Connell from Filmcritic.com gave it a B- rating. He said, “This is meat-and-potatoes filmmaking, though. There’s plenty of substance, but not enough flavor.”

Kirk Honeycutt from the “Hollywood Reporter” rated it a C-. He stated, it was “Hugely implausible and relentlessly downbeat cop thriller lacks any sense of authenticity.” A.O. Scott from the New York Times gave it a C+, stating, “Particular scenes are not always entirely credible, but the sheer charismatic force of much of the acting keeps you in the movie.”

James Berardinelli at Reelviews gave it a B-. He said, “the acting is uniformly solid.” Peter Travers over at Rolling Stone gave it a very disappointing F. He said, it was “a cop movie so shallow, dumb, derivative and infuriating that it feels like a parody of bad cop movies.”

Mick LaSalle at the San Franciso Chronicle gave it a C+. He said, “even at its worst, this is a movie without a lull, without an obvious break to go get popcorn.”

    This movie was true to form. It shows life in the big city. The cops, gangsters, hookers, drug dealers, pimps and wannabes all seem authentic. Critics never like movies that reveal the truth about law and justice or the real politics of America. They get paid to hide the truth.
