Critics Gave Kristen Stewart’s ‘Welcome To The Rileys’ Mediocre Reviews

Critics gave Kristen Stewart’s ‘Welcome To The Rileys’ mediocre reviews. Samuel Goldwyn Films released their new drama movie “Welcome to The Rileys” into theaters today. It features Twilight Saga superstar Kristen Stewart and a whole lot of drama. Most of the top movie critics seemed to think it was just ok,if that, giving it mostly C ratings. The movie stars: James Gandolfini, Melissa Leo, and Kristen Stewart.
Lou Lumenick at the New York Post gave it a B+. He said, “Welcome to the Rileys belongs first and foremost to Stewart, who does haunting, awards-caliber work as Mallory.” Claudia Puig at USA Today gave it a B-. She stated, “Only two-thirds of this unlikely trio comes close to capturing the complexity of anguish and pain.”
Lisa Schwarzbaum at Entertainment Weekly gave it a C+. She said, “Rileys has been casually dubbed “Kristen Stewart’s stripper movie,” but the handle doesn’t stick: Stewart may wear skimpy clothes and grind once or twice from the neck down, but from the neck up she’s all hollow, bruised eyes, twisted little mouth, and classic, coltish K-Stew rebellion.”
Manohla Dargis at the New York Times gave it a C. She said, “What keeps the film’s fragile realism intact are actors who can make even small moments count.” Betsy Sharkey at the Los Angeles Times gave it a C. She said, “Fortunately Stewart seems to thrive in water over her head, and when she pulls Gandolfini in with her the movie gels. It makes you wish the filmmaker had left them in the deep end longer.”
Peter Travers at Rolling Stone gave it another C. He stated, “The actors and admirably sensitive director Jake Scott son of Ridley can’t compensate for Ken Hixon’s long slog of a script.” Ty Burr at the Boston Globe gave it a C. He said, “All three actors come at this gloomy, borderline-preposterous tale from different directions; that they meet up at all – and they do – is a tribute to sincerity and craft.”
Kirk Honeycutt at the Hollywood Reporter gave it a C. He said, “The movie never overcomes the triteness of its premise.” Joe Neumaier at the New York Daily News gave it a C-. He said, “The only saving grace is the larger-than-life presence of James Gandolfini.”
Peter Debruge at Variety gave it a D rating. He said, “Nothing short of preposterous, Jake Scott’s film imagines a grieving couple James Gandolfini and Melissa Leo who play surrogate parents to an underage stripper “Twilight’s” Kristen Stewart and spins it for the “Blind Side” crowd.”.

Kristen’s eyes are always hollow and dead. That’s not acting. It’s just her being her. I bet she bit her lips a lot and did this kind of blinking and sighing thing when she was trying to convey some heavy kind of emotion. Rage, depression, loneliness. Doesn’t matter, they all look the same on her. Other times, she probably looked at the male leads with this pseudo-sultry, horny look, that somehow also manages to still convey a certain amount of anger, hostility, or simple disdain. That’s the part that always gets to the male critics. That attitiude that calls to their somewhat masochistic libido. They like to twist that around into some kind of sign of depth or talent, when really they just wonder what she’s like in bed. Sad.
That was not nice. Kristen Steward is not only that Twilight Girl..she showed her Talent in so many other Movies. I can not believe that somebody wonders how she is in Bed. Thats to twisted because Kristen is no Megan Fox or any of these Girls who have to show their Body to be even acknowledged
Kstew always plays the rape victim. Even in real life, she thinks she is a rape victim.
So well spotted patricia…
I’ve got nothing against her as a person, of course, but as an actress, i think she’s however overrated. She seems stuck in a specific kind of role, which suits her well in fact, but is full of tics an mannerism. She really lacks versatility which in an actor, is an impt indicator of talent. If you’re only going to play yourself…than where’s the talent in that?^^ Anyone could do it. In her interviews etc, she seems so close of all the different characters she played in her career…! Which are by the way, all the same.
In any of her movies, whatever is the story, she always convey the same sort of emotions..In into the wild, advantureland, the messengers, cake eaters etc etc, even in panic room where she was only eleven! Though she does convey them well, She’s really that person! She’s kind of one-note actress, not a wide range one
I don’t know…maybe she will improve with time, she’s still young
