‘The Fighter’ movie delivered great drama & more with Mark Wahlberg. Paramount Pictures released their new Mark Wahlberg branded, drama flick “The Fighter” into theaters this weekend, and it was one of those feel good movies, but with a lot of intense, negative drama mixed in. The movie stars: Mark Wahlberg, Christian Bale, Amy Adams, Melissa Leo,and Jack McGee.

“The Fighter” movie revolved around fighter Mickey Ward (Mark Wahlberg) who is an up and coming fighter who is looking to follow in his brother Dicky Eklund’s (Christian Bale) footsteps. Dicky had previously fought Sugar Ray Leonard, and knocked him down. However, now, his life is filled with a destructive drug addiction that hampers his ability to train Mickey properly.

Mickey’s mother and brother try to manage his boxing career, but one bad incident after another leads him to go a stray to different management. His girlfriend Charlene Fleming (Amy Adams) also aids in his decision. Mickey was a losing boxer, but after parting ways with his family,he was able too establish a winning record.

Meanwhile, his brother cleaned up his act in prison, and helped Mickey win a title fight via some good boxing advice from behind bars. In the end, the movie delivered an awesome “feel good” moment when Dicky reunited with his brother Mickey to help him in his title fight. I won’t give away the ending completely, but I’ll just say it was very emotional at the end. I really enjoyed it.

The movie had plenty of crazy drama, which included the girlfriend and the sisters getting into a fight,Mickey getting his hand bashed in by the cops over Dickey, and lots of verbal altercations. It wasn’t the caliber of the old Rocky movies, but it sort of reminded me of those since it was a boxing movie. I gave the movie an B. “The Fighter” movie is in theaters now.
