New Gangster Squad Movie Delivered Great Action,Major Violence & More

New Gangster Squad movie delivered great action, major violence & more. Warner Bros. Pictures released their new action/drama flick “Gangster Squad” into theaters this weekend. I just checked it out,and thought it was pretty entertaining as it served up a ton of action-filled,outrageously violent, graphic scenes, coupled with major drama, The movie stars: Josh Brolin, Ryan Gosling, Nick Nolte, Robert Patrick, Michael Peña, Giovanni Ribisi, Anthony Mackie, Emma Stone, and Sean Penn.

In the new flick, gangster Mickey Cohen (Sean Penn) has become the most powerful figure in the criminal underworld, and intends to continue to expand his criminal enterprise. The police have not been able to stop Cohen’s ruthless rise, as witnesses are afraid to testify, and Cohen has bribed many cops and influential political figures to maintain his control.

Chief Bill Parker (Nick Nolte), the head of the Los Angeles Police Department, is determined to stop Mickey, and creates a secret police unit to do the job. They included respected police officer Sergeant John O’Mara (Josh Brolin), Sergeant Jerry Wooters (Ryan Gosling) and detectives Coleman Harris (Anthony Mackie), Conway Keeler (Giovanni Ribisi), Navidad Ramirez (Michael Peña) ,and Max Kennard (Robert Patrick). They eventually called themselves the “Gangster Squad,” and start destroying all of Mickey’s criminal operations.

After taking down several of Mickey’s operations, things go bad real quick when Mickey catches on that they’re really cops, and sets up a plan to strike back against them. This also sets up a huge action-filled event where Mickey is seen, murdering a man named Jack Whalen. The witness Grace Faraday (Emma Stone) agrees to testify.

This leads up to a big conclusion that involves the Gangster Squad ,moving in on Mickey to arrest him for the murder. However, it doesn’t go down easy, and involved a major gun shootout, lots of death, fighting, and a huge showdown between Mickey and Sgt. John O’Mara.

Again, I enjoyed watching this film. It did have some dull moments, but overall, I was able to get into the high paced action scenes that he film served up,especially towards the end. I gave the movie a solid B- grade. Stay tuned. Follow us on Twitter by Clicking Here. Follow us on Facebook by Clicking Here.
