New Son Of God movie delivered a mediocre version of Jesus’ story & more. 20th Century Fox released their new drama flick, “Son Of God,” into theaters this weekend. I just checked it out, and thought it was pretty mediocre at best. I actually thought the 2000 TV version ,named “Jesus,” delivered a much better version of the Jesus story. This one stars: Diogo Morgado, Greg Hicks, Adrian Schiller, Darwin Shaw, Sebastian Knapp, Joe Wredden, Simon Kunz, Paul Marc Davis, Matthew Gravelle, Amber Rose Revah, and Roma Downey.

Basically, this movie was just another rehashed telling of the story of Jesus the Christ, and it really came off that way. It showed his humble birth and all of his most popular miracles he performed like healing the crippled man, finding all the fish in the water, raising Lazarus from the dead ,and more. We also saw the drama he incurred with Pharisees, Pontius Pilate, which ultimately lead to his very violent and cruel crucifixion on the cross. They did get very graphic with that part ,so they didn’t lag on that.

However, I just felt like all the dialogue and things of that nature just came off as mediocre at best for me. Again, I enjoyed the 2000 TV version “Jesus” way more than this one. It seemed more realistic and genuine. This “Son Of God” version just seemed like they went through the motions with it and just sort phoned it in, so to speak. It offered no unique elements to give an interesting new take on it ,and they also altered a lot of what Jesus originally said, and not for the better. So, I gave it a D+ grade. Stay tuned.
