Agents Of SHIELD Season 5 To Premiere Earlier Than Expected, New Details
According to a recent report from the folks at Screenrant and many other news outlets, ABC’s hit action series “Marvel’s Agents Of SHIELD” was originally thought to not be scheduled to start until January 2018 due to them not showing up in ABC’s usual Fall 2017 schedule line up.
Also, it was announced that their new show “Marvel’s Inhumans” would be taking over Agents of SHIELD’s Fall time slot. To add to that, the show’s visual effects supervisor said back in May 2017 that it would not return until January 2018.
Now, some new developments have occurred which reveals that show will actually return much earlier than that, most likely around November 2017. They’re reporting that ABC’s Chief Channing Dungey recently attended the 2017 “Television Critics Association” press tour and announced that “Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” will return immediately after Inhumans concludes its eight-episode first season.
Inhumans is scheduled to preview its first two episodes in IMAX theaters on September 1,2017 and will premiere on ABC on Friday night, September 29 with a double-episode. If Inhumans runs without interruptions, it will likely complete its run around November 10,2017. From there, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. season 5 would start that following week on November 17,2017.
Season 4 ended with Coulson mysteriously being put in outer space. It’s reported that season 5 is going to explore Coulson’s deal that he made with the Devil so he could defeat that crazy android AIDA. There’s also rumors floating around that the Kree might show up in the new season.
Additionally, it’s been reported that the show has hired actor Jeff Ward to come on and play a new male character. His character is described as being a key recurring role. Other than that, no other details are available at this time. He’s scheduled to appear in a major multi-episode arc that the fifth season will feature. Hopefully, some other details will pop up about his character in a few weeks are so. We’ll have to wait and see.
One last thing. Agents Of SHIELD has also been bumped to a new night for season 5. Instead of airing on Tuesday nights, it’s going to air on Friday nights in the 8 pm central time slot on ABC.
