New Grey’s Anatomy Season 14 Got Rid Of Another Main Female Doctor Character

New Grey’s Anatomy Season 14 Got Rid Of Another Main Female Doctor Character

According to a new report from the folks over at TV Line ABC’s hit medical drama will not be bringing back yet another main female doctor character for their brand new 14th season. They say that it appears that actress Tessa Ferrer (above) will not be returning to reprise her Leah Murphy character.

They have multiple sources telling them that Tessa has not been seen on the Grey’s Anatomy set this season and that they’re currently aren’t any plans to phase her Leah Murphy character back into any of the Grey Sloan storylines. Tessa was first seen on the show way back in season 9. Then her character got written out of the show in the season 10 finale episode when Richard decided to fire her for not performing well on the job as a surgeon.

However, she was phased back into the storyline in the early part of season 13 when the Grey Sloan hospital rehired Leah after she started doing better at some other hospital. Leah previously dated Arizona during her stint at the hospital. She also had a brief relationship with character Alex Karev during that stint. At the time, she thought it was more than just sex. He eventually ended their relationship but she kept obsessing about why he stopped contacting her.

During Leah’s first year of residency, her competitive nature led her to be called a shark by fellow intern Stephanie Edwards. While on Cristina Yang’s service, she got reprimanded for accidentally almost killing a patient and was banned from the O.R. until further notice. She was also thrown off Yang’s service when she tried to administer blood instead of fluids to a patient who was a Jehovah’s Witness.

She was fired during her second year of residency because she was just not a very good surgeon even though she had everything it takes. She had passed her intern exam and everything. After she got fired, Richard did offer to get her a position at a research facility where she could put all her talents to use. However, Leah didn’t follow up on that offer and enrolled into the program at Foster. While there, she practiced and worked hard to become the best.

After doing well at Foster, she applied for a resident-transfer to Grey Sloan Memorial. Richard reviewed her application and accepted her transfer. He admitted that Leah had proved him wrong and that she deserved a second chance.

With Tessa’s latest departure from the show, she joins other exiting actors Jerrika Hinton aka Stephanie and Marika Dominczyk aka Dr. Eliza Minnick. But don’t worry. There’s some old and new faces that will be showing up this season.

Actress Kim Raver is returning to reprise her role as Dr. Teddy Altman. She will actually be in the big two-hour season 14 premiere episodes 1 and 2. We’ll see Owen Hunt’s sister return to the scene with a much different look because they had to recast her previous portrayer Bridget Regan with actress Abigail Spencer from NBC’s hit fantasy drama “Timeless.” She will also be featured in the season 14 premiere episodes.

Another new face that we’ll see in that big premiere is Andrew Deluca’s sister Dr. Carina DeLuca played by actress Stefania Spampinato. Her research will apparently deliver a very shocking discovery as early as the second episode of this new season!

There’s currently no word on if there are plans to bring Leah Murphy back at some point down the line. However, I definitely wouldn’t rule it out since they’ve already written her out before. Then decided to bring her back.

The big two-hour season 14 premiere episodes 1 and 2 are scheduled to air back to back on the same night which is Thursday, September 28,2017 starting at 7 pm central standard time on ABC.
