They stated, “Perrette is a valued member of both NCIS and the CBS family for over 15 years. While it’s never easy saying goodbye to a beloved actress and character, we respect her decision to leave at the end of the season. We are grateful to Pauley for all her contributions to the series and making Abby one of the most unique characters on television.”

The producers George Schenck and Frank Cardea revealed in their statement that they’ve known about Pauley’s departure plans for a while now, and they have been working on creating a very special way for her character to exit. They also gave her some wonderful complements as well as thanked her for her contribution to the show.

They stated, “We’ve known for some time this would be Pauley’s final season on NCIS and have been working toward a special send-off. From day one, she has brought incredible passion and specificity to the role. Abby is a character that inspires millions of fans around the world, and all of us at NCIS are appreciative of Pauley for portraying her.”

Buddytv.com pointed out that Pauley is the second original castmember to leave the show in the past two years. Michael Weatherly abandoned his role as Special Agent Anthony DiNozzo back in 2016 to pursue his own show called,”Bull.” It’s now in it’s second season. So, it looks like it’s doing well.

The only two original castmembers that will be left after Pauley leaves is Mark Harmon who plays Agent Leroy Jethro Gibbs and David McCallum who plays Donald “Ducky” Mallard. And there have been some reports that Mark’s action scenes are getting dialed way back for the current season 15 due to declining health issues. We’ll have to wait and see if those reports are true.

It’s still unclear the exact reason why Pauley is leaving. In her official Twitter statement, she never gave an exact reason. She just made sure to note that it wasn’t due to any negative feelings between her, CBS or the show. She also said that she doesn’t have a skincare line.

Here’s what her Twitter letter said verbatim: “So, it is true that I am leaving NCIS after this season. There have been all kinds of false stories as to why. No, I don’t have a skin care line. No, my network and show are not mad at me!

It was a decision made last year. I hope everyone will love and enjoy everything Abby not only for the rest of this season but for everything she has given all of us for 16 years. All the love, all the laughter, all the inspiration. I love her as much as you do.”

In related news, NCIS is bringing on another new agent, and she’s set to debut this Tuesday night, October 17,2017 in the new, 4th episode that’s entitled,”Skeleton Crew.” Her name is NCIS Special Agent Jacqueline “Jack” Sloane. She’s definitely going to cause a lot off tension with Gibbs during her first arrival.

CBS’ initial description of her went like this: “After joining NCIS, the character built her reputation as the agency’s premier forensic psychologist. Unlike the other agents, she can second-guess and challenge Gibbs. So, there will be friction but also mutual respect. She is a positive force, mischievous and at times, acerbic.” We’ve seen her in action, and she does look interesting.

NCIS airs every Tuesday night at 7 pm central standard time on CBS. Stay tuned. Also, be sure to follow us on our NCIS Facebook page for more NCIS news by Clicking Here.
