New The Blacklist Season 5’s Delayed Episode 9 Future Airdate Finally Revealed

Hey, “The Blacklist” fans. We’re sure you’re wondering where is the latest episode 9 of your favorite show? Well, it turns out that the previous episode 8 was the show’s midseason finale. That means you guys are going to have to wait around for a little while to see the new episode 9.

The only details we were able to find out about episode 9 is when it’s due to air which is probably the most important detail. It’s currently scheduled to air on Wednesday night, January 3,2018 in it’s usual 7 pm central time slot on NBC. So, be sure to definitely jot that important date down on your TV calendars.

NBC could release a press release for episode 9 any day now. Until then, we don’t see any other details in sight for it. But of course, something could pop up at anytime from one of these many other news outlets. We’ll just have to wait and see.

So, what is NBC going to air instead of The Blacklist? Well, according to the TV Guide listings for tonight, November 29,2017, NBC will be airing a big Christmas holiday special titled, “Christmas in Rockefeller Center.” It’s going to air in the Blacklist 7 pm central time slot.

The description of it reads like this, “Brett Eldredge, Jennifer Nettles, Leslie Odom Jr., Pentatonix, Gwen Stefani, and the Tenors are among the performers at the 85th annual tree-lighting gala in Manhattan. Matt Lauer, Savannah Guthrie, Hoda Kotb and Al Roker host.”

If that sounds like something you guys might want to check out, by all means be sure to still tune into NBC tonight. However, if you’re utterly disgusted with the idea, you’ll definitely want to make other plans if you haven’t already.

NBC’s primtime schedule won’t stop with the Christmas special. After it’s done, a new episode of hit legal drama, “Law & Order: Special Victims Unit” will take over the 8 pm central time slot. It’s the show’s 7th episode of season 19. It’s labeled, “Something Happened.”

NBC’s official description for it reads like this, “Benson must disclose the secrets of her past to help a rape victim recall the details of one terrible, traumatic night.” So, that sounds like it will feature another dramatic and intense storyline for any of you who also watch that show.

If any of you are a Chicago P.D. fan, you’re in luck tonight because it will also feature a brand new episode in the 9 pm central time slot. It’s the 8th episode of its current season 5. It’s entitled,”Politics.”

The official description for the “Politics” episode read like this, “One of Voight’s (Jason Beghe) friends, Congressman Scott Graynor (guest star Scott Bryce) is found passed out in his hotel room with a dead Ukranian girl. When Intelligence discovers the murder is connected to a sting and Burgess’ (Marina Squerciati) boyfriend (guest star Zach Appelman) is working with the Feds, Burgess must choose between compromising her case or her boyfriend’s case.

The episode will also star Jon Seda, Jesse Lee Soffer, Patrick John Flueger, Elias Koteas, LaRoyce Hawkins, Amy Morton and Tracy Spiridakos. Guest starring Wendell Pierce, AlexAnn Hopkins and Ty Jones.”

So, that sounds like another interesting drama that could possibly make up for “The Blacklist” blues. It’ll also wrap up the primtime line up for November 29,2017.

Next Wednesday, December 6,2017, NBC will be airing more of the same stuff during its primetime line up. In the 7 pm central time slot, they’re going to air another freaking Christmas special. It’s titled, “A Very Pentatonix Christmas Special.” The description for it reads like this, “Pentatonix celebrate the holiday season. They’ll be joined by Jennifer Hudson, Jay Leno and “America’s Got Talent” winner Darci Lynne Farmer.”

So, that sounds like it could be quite a lively and entertaining event. Be sure to tune into NBC if that’s of interest to you. Then in the 8 pm central time slot, NBC will be airing another new episode of “Law & Order: Special Victims Unit.” This will be the 8th episode for the show’s current 19th season. They’ve titled it, “Intent.”

The NBC official description for it reads like this, “The cops get tangled in an elaborate online hoax that leads to the rape of a popular social media star. Meanwhile, Benson (Mariska Hargitay) sets firm ground rules with Sheila (guest star Brooke Shields).

Right after that in the 9 pm central standard time slot, the network will air another new episode of “Chicago P.D.” It’ll be the show’s 9th episode of its current 5th season. They’ve labeled it, “Monster.”

NBC’s official description for it reads like this, “The death of a judge’s daughter puts Intelligence on the track of a pill mill spreading into the suburbs of Chicago and the doctor enabling it. Meanwhile, Voight discovers who’s been leaking information from the 21st.”

In additional “The Blacklist” news, Entertainment Weekly recently got to speak with the executive producers Jon Bokenkamp and John Eisendrath about what’s next now that they killed off major character Tom Keen played by actor Ryan Eggold.

EW asked them why in the hell did they decide to kill off Tom now. Apparently, they wanted to see how this tragedy is going to affect Elizabeth. Jon Bokenkamp stated when they asked him about it, “Largely because of what it’s going to do to Elizabeth Keen. As you probably know, Tom died in the original pilot, and then died in episode 17, and in episode 22 probably. But Ryan just brought a special and different dimension to the show that we really liked. It did feel like it’s time to shift that.

I think the big question of what his death will do to Liz is why to come back. How is she going to handle this? How does she resist the temptation that she might have within her own DNA to act and react like Reddington would? Does it rip her apart? That’s the why now: For the back half of the season to see what it does to Liz.”

Then John Eisendrath chimed in to say, “I remember we were at an early meeting with NBC, and we were pitching stories and the subject of Liz’s love life came up regarding Tom, and I remember Bob Greenblatt pointed to a poster that was in the room and the poster was of Red and Liz.

He was like, “You know, that is the love story of the series.” I think he’s right. Ultimately, the love story is between Red and Liz, and Tom’s death will have the largest effect on that relationship pretty much since Red turned himself in.”

Bokenkamp also revealed that Red is going to have to confront a lot of secrets with Liz at some point stating, “There are a lot of secrets that Liz is not aware of about Kaplan reaching out to Tom about this suitcase. There are things that have been happening in the background that she has not been made aware of that Red is aware of. Those are conversations. They have a lot to talk about. There are a lot of secrets that are going to come out that Red is going to have to confront with Liz.”

Eisendrath confirmed that character Ian Garvey is indeed going to be the big bad of the second half of season 5. When asked about Ian, Eisendrath stated, “He is clearly the big bad of the back half, and he is obviously the quest story for both Red and Liz. What we think is interesting is that they are in the quest together but for very different reasons.

Liz is in the quest to find the man who murdered Tom, Red is in the quest to find the man who has the suitcase. During that quest, they are super close and yet along the way, Liz will realize some of these secrets that we’ve talked about and wonder. She goes in thinking Red is helping her and maybe she comes to realize that maybe he’s actually just helping himself.

Just in terms of Garvey’s role in the Liz/Red story, it is all about getting him, and he does have something very powerful that he will use in the future to try and get something from Red.”
