Grey’s Anatomy Meredith Grey Star Ellen Pompeo Revealed More Possible Bad News For The Show

Happy Monday “Grey’s Anatomy” fans. We hope you guys had a great weekend. Unfortunately, we’ve got some possible bad news on the horizon for all of you die-hard Grey’s Anatomy fans. It seems like this particular subject just keeps rearing it’s ugly head, and the main star Ellen Pompeo is starting to say the same thing in regards to it.

According to the folks over at Deadline.com and a couple of other big news outlets, Entertainment Weekly recently got to chat with the Meredith Grey star Ellen Pompeo. One of the big questions they asked her was if she sees herself continuing to do the show after season 16.

Ellen’s answer to their question certainly didn’t leave a very positive feel to it. Here’s what she had to say in response to that question, “I’m clearly not prepared right now to make any formal announcement about what my future is on the show, but I am really feeling like we have told the majority of the stories that we can tell. It’s about time that I mix it up. I’m definitely looking for a change.”

You see what I mean guys? That’s not sounding very good. It sounds to me like she definitely thinks the show could end after season 16. She thinks that the show is starting to run out of content, and that she’s ready for a change. That’s really not a promising statement for any of you guys who are hoping for a season 17 and beyond. In previous interviews, the show’s creator Shonda Rhimes made it perfectly clear that if Ellen quits, the show ends.

On a more positive note, it would be about two years before they start contemplating season 17. Anything can happen to change Ellen’s mind to a more positive outlook between now and then, but this is definitely a head’s up for you guys. You might want to start expecting the worse if Ellen keeps feeling this way.

Deadline.com pointed out in their article that they chatted with Ellen back in January 2018 right after she signed her mega $20 million dollar, two year deal with Grey’s Anatomy. During that interview, Ellen revealed that she’s very interested in mastering the art of producing and directing.

She stated, “I’d love to direct a pilot. I really like producing. That’s really challenging for me. I think I’ve had an amazing training. I’ve had a Master Class in producing these last 14 years. I know every aspect of making a television show. Producing and directing is where I’m challenged and where I’m learning. It’s more interesting to me because it’s a skill I haven’t mastered yet.”

Lastly, the folks over at Deadline.com revealed that Shonda Rhimes intends to return to write the final episode when the time comes. Currently, Shonda has handed the writing duties over to executive producer Krista Vernoff. Shonda told Entertainment Weekly that she has actually wrote an ending to Grey’s Anatomy about six times so far.

However, everytime she does, they keep coming up with something else to keep the show going. Shonda explained, “I have written the end of the show at least six times, but we just don’t end. Every time I thought, ‘This is how the show should end,’ we’ve gone past those moments. So, I’ve stopped trying. I have no idea now.”

That’s exactly what I was saying earlier in this article. Anything could happen within these next two years that causes Ellen to want to continue on past season 16. We can only cross our fingers and hope for the best.

How do you guys feel about Ellen Pompeo’s recent statement of possibly ending things after season 16? Are you happy about it? Are you sad about it? Or do you just not care one way or the other? Let us know in the Facebook comments.

In related Grey’s anatomy news, we’ve got a few, small tidbit spoiler teasers from Grey’s Anatomy showrunner, Krista Vernoff. These come by way of the folks over at TVinsider.com. The first little teaser is about the Owen, Amelia and Teddy love triangle.

Krista Vernoff made a brief comment about that storyline. Apparently, this storyline will not have any villains, but it will be very complicated and painful. Krista said, “There are no villains here. You’ve got two women who Owen really loves. It’s complicated and painful and beautiful.”

It certainly sounds like that storyline will pack a tidy amount of drama for you guys to look forward to this season. The second and last little teaser Krista mentioned was in reference to characters Jo Wilson and Alex Karev. As previously reported, we’re going to see some steamy honeymoon scenes from them to start off season 15.

They’re going to be at some beach resort. However, as the season continues to roll along, there’s definitely going to be some career changes and challenges in the works. Krista stated of Alex and Jo, “Tying the knot doesn’t mean careers don’t continue to change, and life doesn’t throw challenges at you.”

I think it’ll be quite interesting to see what challenges get thrown at Alex and Jo now that they’ve gotten hitched and all. We shall see. We shall see.

One other thing the TVinsider.com article mentioned was that Jackson and Maggie will face some pretty rough times with their relationship. Jackson will have a newfound faith in God, and it’s going to cause some major tension between he and Maggie. I think it’ll be interesting see to what extent.

Alright guys. That’s all we’ve got for this latest Grey’s Anatomy report, but definitely stay tuned because a lot more is coming as the new, 15th season gets underway this Thursday night, September 27, 2018 at approximately 7 pm central standard time on ABC.

As previously reported, they are combining episodes 1 and 2 to feature a whopping two-hour season 15 premiere episode.
