Grey’s Anatomy Meredith Grey Star Ellen Pompeo Revealed Very Good News For The Show And You Fans

Hey, “Grey’s Anatomy” fans. We’ve got some really terrific news to share with you guys in this latest article. It comes from Grey’s Anatomy’s leading lady Ellen Pompeo aka Meredith Grey. We had previously reported that Ellen was giving off major vibes that she would possibly be ready to quit the show after her current two-season, 20 million dollar contract was up.

In a recent Entertainment Weekly interview, Ellen had stated after being asked if she could see herself continuing on Grey’s Anatomy after season 16, “I’m clearly not prepared right now to make any formal announcement about what my future is on the show, but I am really feeling like we have told the majority of the stories that we can tell. It’s about time that I mix it up. I’m definitely looking for a change.”

At that time, that statement definitely didn’t make us feel good about the show continuing past season 16 because if Ellen quits, that means Grey’s Anatomy is done according the show’s creator Shonda Rhimes.

So, here’s the good news. The folks over at Entertainment Tonight recently chatted with Ellen Pompeo while at the Veuve Clicquot Polo Classic in Los Angeles, California this past Saturday, October 6, 2018. During their interview, they decided to revisit that same line of questioning with Ellen. This time, Ellen was singing a little bit of a different tune which definitely swayed to a more positive outlook.

Basically, she said the future of Grey’s Anatomy is in the hands of the fans. That implies she has no intentions of quitting unless all of you guys, the fans stop watching and the ratings drop. She thinks the show really touches people’s lives and that’s something she really appreciates. She definitely doesn’t take it for granted. Ellen also mentioned that she and Shonda will ,of course, discuss the future of the show and decide together what they’re going to do.

When asked about the future of the show, Ellen stated, “It’s something Shonda and I will decide together. I’ve been doing it a long time, and I do get restless, but the fans are just still so passionate about the show.

When you meet people who are going through things in their life ,and they say the show brings them solace and the show brings them comfort. Whether they have cancer. Whether they are an abuse victim. Whether they’re in a marginalized community. Even though it is a silly soap opera. To know that you’re really touching people and making people feel better even if it’s just because they’re crying, it’s meaningful. As an actor, what we want to do is to tell stories and have those stories reach people.

We are really, really touching people’s lives. I see the effects of it everyday. I hear the stories. We really make a difference in people’s lives. As an artist, to be able to touch people in a meaningful way, I don’t take it for granted. That’s for sure. I appreciate it.

I think the fans will let us know when the numbers start to drop and people aren’t watching the same. When people aren’t as passionate about it, it’s time to call it.”

As for the previous times that Ellen has talked about the show ending, she revealed that she’s been saying that for years now, and it always never happens because new and interesting stories just keep popping up. She stated, “I’ve been saying, for the record, that the show is going to end since season two, but it continues to find interesting stories to tell and new roads to travel.”

For even further confirmation that Ellen wants to stay, Entertainment Tonight straight up asked her if she’s down with staying on Grey’s Anatomy. Ellen responded with,”Yeah, for right now. Let’s take it one season at a time.”

The Entertainment Tonight article also revealed that former Derek Shepherd star Patrick Dempsey had some very positive things to say about Ellen and the Grey’s Anatomy show as a whole in light of it’s 15th season landmark. He said of Ellen and Her Meredith Grey character, “That was a very special bond. There was a magic to our connection and that’s special.”

When speaking about Grey’s Anatomy reaching 15 seasons, Patrick stated, “I think it started with the original cast and the length that it has and the new people that have come in, and it’s amazing and it’s continuing to affect so many people and to really be a strong part of so many people’s lives. You’re a part of television history. It’s really remarkable.”

Lastly, Entertainment Tonight’s article pointed out that as far as the ratings numbers go for Grey’s Anatomy, it’s nowhere near being in trouble. It’s still one of the top drama series on the ABC network. The season 15, two hour premiere episode brought in a whopping 7 million viewers. It scored a 1.8 rating in the 18-49 age group demographic.

If the show keeps those type of numbers up, it should stick around for quite some time. No one really knows what the future holds. However, for Grey’s Anatomy, it is looking quite bright especially with those new, positive words from the show’s leading lady.
