New Black Lightning Season 3 Is Happening. New Spoilers Coming Soon

Hey, Black Lightning fans. We’ve got some great news for you guys, tonight. Now that season 2 is officially in the books, it’s time to confirm that Black Lightning has indeed been renewed for a brand new season 3! That’s right, guys. It’s time to pop a cork on those champagne bottles and celebrate!

According to the folks over at TV Line, the happy renewal news actually took place back in late January 2019. So, The CW didn’t waste much time in renewing Black Lightning. In fact, they didn’t wast much time renewing a lot of their hit shows. The announcement of Black Lightning season 3 was actually announced with the renewal of a plethora of other CW shows.

Those shows include: The Flash, Arrow, Riverdale, Supernatural, Supergirl,DC’s Legends of Tomorrow, Charmed, Legacies and Dynasty.

The CW has yet to renew: All American, Roswell, New Mexico and The 100. It’s reported that the “All American” show is the lowest rated show on The CW, which is quite unfortunate because I really like that show.

During the renewal announcement, the president of The CW Mark Pedowitz had some wonderful things to say about how The CW is doing as a network. He stated, “This season, we expanded our primetime schedule to six nights with the addition of Sunday, which has been an unqualified success for the network, our affiliates and our advertisers. In addition to growing our schedule across the week, we also continue to add more year-round programming. We look forward to building on this with even more returning and new shows as we approach the May upfront.”

As for the numbers, Black Lightning actually dropped quite a bit in season 2 for both viewership and ratings. Season 2 started off drawing in 1.161 million viewers and a 0.40 ratings score for the 18-49 age demographic.

The most recent episode with statistics, which is episode 15, brought in only 0.750 or 700,000 to 800,000 viewers with a rating score of 0.20. That 15th episode is currently the lowest rated and least viewed episode. We’ll have to wait for the numbers to come out for tonight’s finale episode 16. The viewership gradually went down during season 2 with slight jumps here and there.

Hopefully, Black Lightning can bounce back from such a drastic drop in season 3, or it might be its last season. The CW was very kind with this renewal. I’m thinking they just went ahead and renewed it based on its past performance.

Whatever the case, Black Lightning will certainly need to get those viewership and ratings numbers back up in season three for sure.

Alright guys. That’s it for this latest Black Lightning report, but definitely stay tuned for more.
