The Voice April 29, 2019 Top 24 Contestant Performances Revealed (Recap)

Hey, “The Voice” fans. Tonight, April 29, 2019, the top 24 finally performed for your votes to get into the top 13. Of course, the judges: Kelly Clarkson, John Legend, Adam Levine and Blake Shelton were on hand like they always are. For the first time, Apple streams will count as votes. There’s a limit of ten streams per eligible song per Apple ID.

To get things started tonight, Rod Stokes from Team Kelly hit the stage to sing, “Midnight Rider” by Allman Brothers. They didn’t go to the judges for any comments on his performance or any other performances.

I’m guessing that’s because of time constraints. I mean they had 24 freaking people performing tonight. So, they had to hurry it along. The Voice gets good rating, but not that good. NBC’s like, “You guys gotta wrap this show up in two hours.”

With that said, Matthew Johnson from Team Kelly Clarkson hopped on stage to sing, “Ordinary People” by John Legend.

Next,Rebecca Howell from Team Kelly Clarkson hit the stage to sing, “Wild One” by Faith Hill. Kelly got up on her feet for that one.

After Rebecca, Presley Tennant for Team Kelly hit the stage. He ended up singing,”Nothing Breaks Like a Heart” by Mark Ronson.

Next, to hit the stage was Abby Kaschfrom Team Kelly Clarkson. She chose to sing, “I Got the Boy” by Jana Kramer.

After Abby wrapped up her performance, Jej Vinson arrived on stage from Team Kelly Clarkson. He chose to sing, “Love Lies” by Khalid ft Normani.

Next, John Legends team of singers did their performances. They started their segment off with a video montage for them. After that, they had to rush them through their performances, starting with Lisa Ramey. Lisa decided to sing,”The Weight” by The Band.

After Lisa wrapped things up, Jacob Maxwell from Team John Legend made it to the stage. He sang, “Total Eclipse of the Heart” by Bonnie Tyler.

Next, the show featured all the top 24 contestants doing a group number. During this group number, they sang, “Good to Be Alive” by Andy Grammer for a Marshalls commercial.

After all that, we saw Jimmy Mowery hit the stage from Team John Legend. He sang, “Youngblood” by 5 Seconds of Summer.

After Jimmy finished up, Celia Babini for Team John Legend made her way to the stage, and she ended up singing, “The Chain” by Fleetwood Mac.

Next up, was Maelyn Jarmon from Team John Legend. She chose to sing, “Falling Water” by Maggie Rogers.

After Maelyn Jarmon did her thing, we saw Shawn Sounds hit the stage for Team John Legend. He chose to sing, “Higher Ground” by Stevie Wonder.

Shawn Sound was the last Team John Legend performer. So, Team Adam Levine was up next. They showed a very short video montage for his small, four person army. Then they rushed them to the stage, starting with Kalvin Jarvis. He decided to sing, “Mine” by Bazzi.

After Kalvin did his thing, Betsy Ade from Team Adam Levine hit up the stage to perform, “Are You Gonna Be My Girl” by Jet.

After Betsy finished up her set, they rushed Mari from Team Adam Levine onto the stage. She chose to sing, “Work it Out” by Beyonce.

Next, they rushed Domenic Haynes from Team Adam Levine to the stage. He chose to sing,”Love is a Losing Game” by Amy Winehouse.

With 45 minutes left in the show, they were able to get through 16 of the 24 performances. So, you know they rushed the hell out of this. I’ve never heard of 24 performances in 2 hours before. And not even really 2 hours if you count commercials. Anyways, Blake Shelton’s team was up next. He had 8 artists on his team.

To get things started for Team Blake Shelton’s crew, they rushed Andrew Sevener to the stage. He chose to sing, “Boots On” by Randy Houser.

After Andrew wrapped up his performance, it was time for Selkii of Team Blake Shelton to do her thing. She decided to sing,”Iris” by the Goo Goo Dolls.

After Selkii did her thing, we saw Oliv Blu from Team Blake Shelton arrive on stage. She chose to sing, “The Girl from Ipanema” by Stan Getz.

Next up after Olive Blu, was Gyth Rigdon from Team Blake Shelton. He decided to sing, “I Want to be Loved Like That” by Shenandoah.

After Gyth Rigdon wrapped things up, Kendra Checketts from Team Blake Shelton hit the stage to perform the song she chose. That song turned out to be, “Bad Guy” by Billie Eilish.

Once Kendra finished up her set, they rushed the 6th performer from Blake Shelton’s team, Carter Lloyd Horne onto the stage. He decided to sing, “Heartbreak Hotel” by Elvis Presley.

Once Carter finished his set, they rushed Kim Cherry from Team Blake Shelton to the stage. She decided to sing, “Waterfalls” by TLC. During her performance, she sat behind an electric piano before starting up her rap routine.

Finally, to wrap up all the 24 performances of the night, Dexter Roberts from Team Blake Shelton hit the stage. He decided to sing, “Ain’t Nothing ‘Bout You” by Brooks & Dunn.

Alright guys. That was your top 24 finalists for The Voice tonight, April 29, 2019. After tomorrow night, they will be dwindled down to just 13. That brings us to some very important information. The LIVE results show is scheduled to take place tomorrow night, April 30, 2019, starting at approximately 8pm central standard time on NBC.

The official instructions that we have from NBC as to how it will all play out, reads like this, “America will vote eight artists through, and each coach will have one save. The Voice’ “Fifth Coach,” Bebe Rexha will appear to support the final two Comeback Artists as they perform for a chance to re-enter the competition as part of the Top 13 through the Instant Save. The winning artist will then indicate which team they would like to join.”

If any of you guys are a bit confused by those instructions, you’re not alone. I don’t think I will fully understand everything until this LIVE results show plays out tomorrow night. The Voice is anything but straight forward these days. They’ve thrown in a lot of twists and turns so to speak. Anyways, stay tuned.
