American Idol Eliminated Jeremiah Lloyd Harmon Tonight, May 5, 2019

Hey, “American Idol” fans. Tonight, May 5, 2019, the final 6 American Idol contestants performed LIVE once again. However, this time, they performed not one, but two songs. Their first set of songs were inspired by the Woodstock music festival. The second set of songs were titled “Inspirational Showstoppers.”

American Idol alum and CCM star Lauren Daigle arrived to mentor the singers through the Showstopper performances. All the judges: Lionel Richie, Katy Perry and Luke Bryan were on hand, and they still had a “save” in play to rescue one lucky contestant from elimination.

Tonight’s LIVE show started off with the Woodstock performances. Madison Vandenberg hit the stage first to sing, “Piece of My Heart” by Janis Joplin/Erma Franklin. Afterwards, Katy told Madison, “Oh my gush! You flung your pony! I don’t want you to be second. I want you to win this thing. I think the second half was better than the first half.” Luke said, “You’re doing what we ask every week, digging in more and more.” Lionel said, “You brought us attitude tonight.”

Next up, was Laine Hardy. He sang, “I Don’t Need No Doctor” by Joe Cocker/Ray Charles. Afterwards, Luke told him, “Your voice has that certain sweet spot.” Lionel said, “I dig your colorful jacket.” Katy said, “You are taking it to the core of who you are. I think you’ve figured this chess game out. Push yourself hard.”

Next, Jeremiah Lloyd Harmon hit the stage to sing, “Swing Low, Sweet Chariot” by Joan Baez. The judges got on their feet for his performance. Afterwards, Lionel told Jeremiah, “You’re bringing the bling and the swing. Your vocals are absolutely amazing.” Katy said, “HALLELUJAH. The church is in ya! Thanks for showing off.” Luke said, “comfortable from day one.”

After that, Laci Kaye Booth hit the stage to sing, “To Love Somebody” by Janis Joplin/Bee Gees. Afterwards, Katy said, ” Your voice is spectacular. I compare it to Bonnie Raitt. I want you to move more though.” Luke said, “You dug in and stood out. You commanded our attention. This was cool to watch.” Lionel complimented her big hair and fringe outfit. He also told her, “I want you to play the crowd more.”

Alejandro Aranda hopped on stage next. He ended up singing, “White Rabbit” by Jefferson Airplane. Afterwards, Luke told Alejandro, “I felt your performance embodied the spirit of Woodstock. I call it “Pink Floyd like.” Lionel said, “The jacket is on fire.” Lionel also gave him some mic tips saying, “Make love to it.” Katy said, “That was a fantastic performance. Keep feeling yourself. Your heroes would be proud.”

Next, Wade Cota hit the stag to sing,”With a Little Help from My Friends” by Joe Cocker/The Beatles. Afterwards, Lionel told Wade, “You have more movement than Joe Cocker. It’s the perfect song for you. You knocked it out of the park.” Katy said, “That was the best performance I’ve seen tonight.” Luke said, “You just elevated the game. You spiritually moved the whole room.”

Shortly after that, one of last season’s contestants Gabby Barrett hit the stage to perform her new song titled, “I Hope.”

After that, Madison VanDenberg hit the stage again to sing her second song of the night. It was, “I Surrender” by Celine Dion. Afterwards, Katy told Madison, “I could really hear and see you feeling it. There you are.” Luke told her, “You finally gave us a cry in there. You’ve been 99.9 percent there.” Lionel said, “Your vocals are far beyond your age. You’re owning it so much now. You did that song in a Madison style.”

Next, Alejandro Aranda arrived on stage to sing an original song called, “Poison.” Afterwards, Luke said, “It’s tough to sing and play guitar like that at the same time.” Lionel said, “Watching you sing your songs is everything. Your star has already gone to the top.” Katy said, “That was the best you have ever sang on the show. I think it will be interesting how American Idol will change when you win.”

After all that, Laci Kaye Booth hit the stage for her second performance. She sang, “Open Arms” by Journey. Afterwards, Lionel told her, ” Your delivery was fantastic. You’re in your comfort zone now.” Katy said, “That was exactly what I was asking for. You are multidimensional.” Luke said, “I’m so proud of how far you’ve come.”

Next, Jeremiah Lloyd Harmon hopped on stage to sing, “Somewhere” by Barbra Streisand for his second performance of the night. Afterwards, Katy told Jeremiah, “I was locked in every single word. Every single syllable.” Luke said, “You started a little unsure, but you rallied at the end.” Lionel told him, “You cannot study mesmerizing. You killed it tonight.”

After that, Wade Cota performed, “Through the Valley” by Shawn James for his second set of the night. Afterwards, Luke told Wade, “That was a Johnny Cash moment.” Lionel said, “You have sold it to us.” Katy said, “That voice is 1000 years old. I think you’re finally believing in yourself.”

Then the last performance of the night fell upon Laine Hardy. He sang, “Johnny B. Goode” by Chuck Berry. Afterwards, Lionel told Laine, “That was the perfect song. The perfect attitude.” Katy said, “I’m scared. It was so good! Who knew you had that in your lower body!” Luke said, “Laine has left the building! I have nothing left to say.”

After that, host Ryan Seacrest got right down to business and revealed that everyone was safe and through to the next round except for Laci Kaye Booth and Jeremiah Lloyd Harmon. They were the two with the least amount of votes from the viewing audience. However, the judges did opt to use their “save” tonight, and they used it on Laci! So, Laci got very lucky. She’s still in this thing! But for poor Jeremiah, it was indeed the end of the road.

  1. I’m appalled that they let Jeremiah go? the best male vocalist they had in quite a while.. those dum-dums? I just can’t believe it

I can’t BELIEVE Jeremiah wasn’t saved!!!!! Wrong decision, judges.

I will no longer watch American Idol. Jerimiah has the best voice, hands down. Don’t know what the point of this show is. The judges saved Laci over Jerimiah? Not a best voice show for sure. Done with it.

  4. Kathy Thomason says:

No…im not happy. Jeremiah was cheated. He should have won the whole darn competition . Thats it for me. Im finished. They can take American Idol and shove it. Im a Jeremiah Lloyd Harmon fan. And will always be. I love you Jeremiah .!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Where were the judges heads tonight? Up their asses apparently. Any one will tell you the Jerimiah had the best voice in the competition yet Laci was chosen tonight by the judges in their one “save”. I hope the judges catch HELL from all directions over this ignorant decision. I thought the judges were doing a great job up to this point. I really don’t feel like watching the rest of the competition. I was really looking forward to the return of American Idol but what a disappointment tonight was. Katie, Lionel and “whats his face” should all be ashamed of their poor judgement. I hope their decision haunts them for a very long time. Amen.

Very upset about this because I thought Laci did good at the very end but didn’t really give it her all through the entire thing. I also don’t thing Johnny b good was picked because of his voice but rather his looks. I think that Jeremiah Harmon Should still be in the top 4 and Laci and Johnny B good should’ve been going home. Simon Cowell would’ve agreed but it goes by Americas vote. Jeremiah had done and tried his hardest throughout whole show and really deserves that top 4. His has that billboard voice that can play on the mainstream radio.
Madison and Jeremiah both have the mainstream billboard radio voice and those are the ones I felt deserve the top two. Madison and Jeremiah followed by Wade and then Alejandro. Laci following in 5th cause she can do good if she keeps trying in her natural lower voice. Johnny b good boy come on you know it’s your looks that’s getting you through.

  7. Suzanne Malone says:

Extremely disappointed with voting results last night.
Madison and Jeremiah have outstanding voices and are truly gifted vocalists. The remaining contestants do not come close to the talent that these 2 possess. In fact I leave the room when Wade and Alejandro perform, as they frequently sing off key, and their ranges are subpar. I will not be watching the remaining competition.

Jeremiah has the best voice don’t know where these judges thoughts are

I am so upset they sent Jeremiah go, that was the wrong decision for sure. I am so mad and upset, he was by far the best singer, I thought he would win the whole thing, so unfair, not sure I will continue to watch.

They didn’t save him because it was best for his career! He won’t held back by idol now. He’s so good he probably had offers already . They knew exactly what they were doing. I too watched this season for his performances . They probably caught hell for their decision , he would have made a lot od money for the Idol name!

    Horrible decision!

  12. Judy says:

The judges made a huge mistake by not saving Jeremiah. He has the best voice, can accompany himself, can write and has performed consistently the entire competition. I refuse to watch anymore.! Laci has one of the weakest voices. Jeremiah is fabulous. I hope someone signs him.

  13. Judy says:

The judges made a huge mistake by not saving Jeremiah.! He has the best voice in the competition, can write and accompany himself while singing. He has performed well consistently every week. I refuse to watch any more. I hope someone signs him- he’s fabulous! Laci is weak and isn’t in his class vocally. What’s wrong with the judges???

  14. Anonymous says:

I hung on to every word Jeremiah sang. I don’t care who wins now. I hope his career will soar
    From here on out.

I loved his voice, every powerful song he sang. I don’t care who wins now. I only hope Jeremiah’s
    Career soars.

We all know why Jeremiah was not saved, the same reason Adam Lambert did not win American Idol (and he should have). American Idol can not have a gay contestant win. Plus America that votes will never accept gay performers that are the best, they vote for who ever is the prettiest or the most sexy. I will not continue to watch american idol. In fact I am thru with it. I did not watch it for a long time after they kept Adam for winning.

Jeremiah was robbed. What were the judges thinking???

  18. Chicago says:

Looks like the show has finally put the last nail in their coffin.

  19. Phil Greedy says:

My wife and I are very upset with the results Sunday night. Our energy and enthusiasm for the show is gone. Here Jeremiah was clearly the best singer. By far. Everyone knew that including the judges. Something is wrong. This is NOT RIGHT.

  20. Jim COLLIER says:

AGREE!! Judges BLEW IT! what idiots!
