‘So You Think You Can Dance’ July 1, 2019 Episode 5 Delayed. It’s Not New Tonight

Hey, “So You Think You Can Dance” fans. If any of you tuned into FOX tonight, July 1, 2019, you were probably disappointed to find out that it was, in fact, a repeat/rerun episode. That’s because the show apparently took a break tonight for whatever reason.

Instead, FOX aired a rerun of the premiere episode 1. The official FOX description for that episode reads like this, “Judges Auditions #1. In the Season 16 premiere, the first round of auditions begins. Dancers perform in various dance styles, including contemporary, tap, hip-hop, ballroom, breaking, and animation.”

The brand new episode 5 that you guys were looking for will not air until next Monday night, July 8, 2019. So, be sure to mark down that very important date on your TV show calendars. The new episode 5 will feature even more audition rounds that took place out in sunny Los Angeles, California.

FOX’s official description for episode 5 reads like this, “Judges Auditions #5. The auditions come to a close on the new stage in Los Angeles, as the judges search for the best dancers in the nation.”

So, episode 5 will indeed finally be the last episode for the initial Los Angeles, California auditions. After that, we should see all the audition rounds that took place at the coveted Academy. So, that should be pretty exciting.

All the judges: Lauriann Gibson, Dominic “D-Trix” Sandoval, Mary Murphy and Nigel Lythgoe will, of course, be featured again in episode 5 next week.

The grand prize for this latest 16th season is $250,000. Apparently, this season, the producer revamped the audition process, making everyone have to fly out to the “So You Think You Can Dance” Hollywood Studio to try out instead of sending the judges out to remote locations across the United States.

So far, the LIVE ratings and viewership numbers look ok for a summer reality show. It’s averaging 2.332 million LIVE viewers per episode with a 0.57 ratings score for the 18-49 year old demographics.

From what we can tell, it looks like this current season 16 will feature a total of 13 episodes. Maybe more. We’ll have to wait and see.

We’re not sure if there will be anymore rerun episodes this season. We’ll have to play that by ear as well. The first episode for the Academy episodes is confirmed to air on Monday night, July 15, 2019 at approximately 8 pm central standard time on FOX.

FOX’s official description for the first Academy episode reads like this, “After seeing the best of the best from around the country, the judges are ready to see who can take it to the next level. The first round of “The Academy” callbacks begins at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles as the talented dancers vie for a spot in the Top 10.”

Again, the brand new episode 5 is scheduled to air next Monday night, July 8, 2019 at approximately 8 pm central standard time on FOX.

Alright guys. That’s all we’ve got for this latest “So You Think You Can Dance” special report, but definitely stay tuned for more.
