For starters, next week’s new episode 5 is officially named/titled, “First Case, Second Base.” It sounds like episode 5 will feature some pretty interesting scenes as Dr. Shaun Murphy finally gets assigned his first surgery!

Claire keeps avoiding emotions about her mother. Morgan and Claire find lots of doubts with a certain patient and more.

We’ll go ahead and start off this spoiler session with the Dr.Shaun Murphy first surgery situation. It turns out that this will certainly be a big episode for Shaun. Dr. Audrey Lim will go ahead and give Shaun his first crack at a surgery, but this decision will certainly be met with doubts by Dr. Marcus Andrews. Marcus will hardcore question if Shaun is actually ready.

ABC’s official description tells us, “Dr. Shaun Murphy has been assigned his first surgery by Dr. Audrey Lim. However, Dr. Marcus Andrews questions whether he is really ready.”

Will Marcus just back off and let Shaun have his chance to shine? Or will he keep Shaun out of the OR? Those are some very important questions for this particular storyline.

We’ll definitely have to wait and see how that whole scenario plays out because ABC didn’t give out that much intel. It sounds like this storyline could deliver a lot of interesting scenes though. So, get prepped for it when next week rolls around.

The second spoiler teaser reveals that Claire will continue her usual pattern in regards to her mother in this episode. She will indeed keep playing the avoidance game when it comes to dealing with her emotions for her mother.

ABC’s description tells us, “Dr. Claire Brown continues to avoid her complicated emotions about her mother.”

Will Claire ever come around and deal with what happened to her mother? That’s the burning question for this seemingly ongoing storyline. Only time will tell at this point since we don’t have any other spoiler teasers beyond this episode at the moment.

We’re still waiting for ABC to put out some more episode press releases. For now, it sounds like this storyline will continue to deliver very emotional scenes for Claire. So, look out for that.

Lastly, the 3rd spoiler scoop reveals that Claire will be in action with Dr. Morgan Reznick in this episode. Apparently, they will have their reservations about the story he’s trying to sell to them after they diagnose him.

ABC’s description for that scenario reads like this, “Dr. Claire Brown and Dr. Morgan Reznick have a patient whose diagnosis has them doubting his story.”

What is the story that this patient is trying to pitch? Why don’t Claire and Morgan believe him? Those are the important questions for this particular plotline.

Hopefully, we’ll see all of that get answered in this episode when it hits the airwaves next week. It sounds like it could turn in to a situation that’s pretty intense and dramatic.

ABC also released a new preview clip for episode 5. It starts off with Shaun yelling with excitement, “My first lead surgery!” Next, the scene cuts to Marcus telling Audrey of Shaun, “You’re throwing him into the deep end, and that’s unfair to him.”

Dr. Aaron is seen asking Shaun, “How your nerves holding up?” Shaun replies with, “I’m not nervous.”

Lastly, the scene caps off with Shaun totally freaking out in the OR. He starts yelling, “No,no,no, no!” Then runs off! It looks very dramatic indeed. You guys can view the new preview clip for episode 5 over on Youtube by Clicking Here.
