‘The Voice’ December 3, 2019 Eliminated Shane Q & Joana Martinez (Recap)

Hey, “The Voice” fans. Earlier tonight, December 3, 2019, another LIVE results/elimination show did indeed air. The judges: Blake Shelton, Kelly Clarkson, John Legend and Gwen Stefani were, of course, on hand because that’s what they get paid to do.

Tonight’s episode kicked off with host Carson Daly getting right down to business by revealing that Will Breman from Team Legend and Rose Short from Team Gwen are safe this week and through to the top 8!

After that, John Legend and Kelly Clarkson hit the stage to sing their new Christmas song called, “Baby It’s Cold Outside.”

Shortly after that, we saw Carson Daly reveal that Ricky Duran of Team Blake is safe this week. So, he also advanced to the top 8.

Next, recording artists Meghan Trainor and Mike Sabath hit the stage to perform their new song called, “Wave.”

After that set wrapped up, Carson revealed that Katie Kadan of Team Legend and Jake Hoot of Team Kelly are both safe this week.

Right after that, Carson kept the results coming by revealing that Hello Sunday from Team Kelly and Kat Hammock from team Blake are also both safe this week.

Unfortunately, that also meant that Shane Q of Team Kelly,Joana Martinez of Team Gwen and Marybeth Byrd of Team Legend were hit with the reality that they had landed in the bottom three this week.

They had to participate in a sing-off for America’s Instant Save vote. Shane Q was up first. He sang, “Killing Me Softly” by Roberta Flack. Afterwards, Blake said, “I liked the song choice. I’m surprised to see you there.” Kelly said, “Your voice is incredible. I hope America votes for you.”

Next, Joana Martinez sang the song, “Somebody I Used to Know.” Afterwards, Blake said, “You’re still team Blake to me in my mind.” Gwen said, “America watched you grow right on stage. America needs to vote!”

Lastly, Marybeth Byrd sang the song, “You Are the Reason” by Leona Lewis. Afterwards, John told Marybeth, “I’m so proud of you. You’ve given some of your best performances this week. I want America to reward that.”

From this point, the votes were tabulated. Marybeth had a whopping 49 percent of the votes over Joana’s 27 percent and Shane Q’s 24 percent. So, Marybeth won the instant save vote to advance to the top 8, leaving poor Joana Martinez and Shane Q in the elimination pile.

So, just to recap, your top 8 singers for The Voice season 17 are: Will Bremen of Team Legend, Rose Short of Team Gwen, Ricky Duran of Team Blake, Kady Kadan of Team Legend, Jake Hoot of Team Kelly, Hello Sunday of Team Kelly, Kat Hammock of Team Blake and Marybeth Byrd of Team Legend.

Shane Q of Team Kelly and Joana Martinez of Team Legend were indeed eliminated.

AS A PROFESSIONAL MUSICIAN/COMPOSER FOR THE PAST 60 YEARS, I HAVE BEEN A FAITHFUL FOLLOWER OF THE VOICE. THE SHOW HAS ALWAYS HAD A FEW REALLY GOOD SINGERS, BUT UNFORTUNATELY THE PUBLIC DOESN’T ALWAYS VOTE FOR THE BEST VOICE OF THE SEASON. I HAVE A MAJOR COMPLAINT AND THAT IS THAT YOUR PRODUCER IS GOING MORE FOR THE PRODUCTION AND WE MISS A LOT OF THE VOCAL QUALITY BECAUSE YOUR BACK UPS ARE NOT MIXED RIGHT AND YOU LEAVE THEM IN THE DARL TOO LONG. I HAVE TO BELIEVE THAT YOU GUYS ARE HEARING THE SOUND BETTER THAN WE GET IT AT HOME. THE PERFORMERS VOICE NEEDS TO STAND OUT MORE, AWAY FROM THE FLASHY LIGHTS & SOUND. I CAN TELL EVEN WITH THE EAR BUDS SOMETIMES THEY HAVE DIFFICULTY HEARING THEMSELVES. I KNOW THIS PROBABLY WILL FALL ON DEAF EARS, BUT PLEASE, LET US HEAR THE SINGER SO WE CAN VOTE FOR THE BEST VOICE.
