Blue Bloods Season 12, May 6, 2022 Episode 20 Is The Finale. Season 13 Is Happening

Hey, “Blue Bloods” fans. We hope you guys totally enjoyed and savored every minute of tonight’s episode 20 because it’s the very last episode of Blue Bloods that you’re going to see for a few months. That’s right, guys. Tonight’s episode 20 was indeed the season 12 finale episode.

The good news is that it wasn’t the last episode ,forever, because we can officially tell you, right now, that CBS did give Blue Bloods a brand new season 13 renewal! According to the folks over at TVLine.com , CBS announced the season 13 renewal back in late April 2022. So, it was a bit of an early renewal.

During the renewal announcement, we got to hear from the president of CBS Entertainment Kelly Kahl. He had some good things to say about the show stating, “The Reagans possess an incredible bond with audiences literally everywhere and on every platform.

And in its 12th season, with over 250 episodes, Blue Bloods not only continues to dominate in the ratings but excels at an exceptionally high creative level. Led by the incomparable Tom Selleck, this amazing cast skillfully brings universal and relatable personal storylines to life week after week, while executive producer Kevin Wade and the skilled writing team craft compelling episodes featuring the show’s trademark mix of family dynamics and police work.”

One of Blue Bloods’ main stars Tom Selleck recently chatted about Blue Bloods long run saying, “I never thought I’d be lucky enough to do a show that had that long a run. Maybe Magnum, P.I. could have reached that number because nobody wanted to cancel it. I was the guy causing the divorce by leaving to do movies. The number of series that have done as many episodes as Blue Bloods is a tiny, tiny percentage.”

Currently, we don’t have an official premiere date or episode count for the new season 13. We’ll have to reveal that info at a later date.

Blue Bloods season 12 averaged 6.040 million LIVE viewers per episode, and a 0.44 ratings score for the 18-49 year old demographics. The most recent episode 19, which aired last Friday night, April 29, 2022, drew in 5.848 million LIVE viewers, and a 0.38 ratings score.

The most-viewed episode was episode 11 with 6.438 million LIVE viewers. The least-viewed episode was episode 17 with 5.674 million LIVE viewers.

The highest-rated episode was episode 12 with a 0.53 ratings score. The lowest-rated episode was episode 19 with a 0.38 ratings score.

Those Neilson ratings only tell half the tale because season 12 actually rang up an average of 9.8 million LIVE viewers when the Live+7 playback numbers are factored in. Currently, Blue Bloods is the 3rd ranked episode for the network. It’s also the 4th most-viewed series behind NCIS, FBI and NBC’s Chicago Fire according to TVLine. So, it’s not hard to figure out why CBS gave Blue Bloods a new season 13 renewal.
