MasterChef June 15, 2022 Eliminated Stephen Lee (Recap)

Hey, “MasterChef” fans. Tonight, June 15, 2022, another new episode of MasterChef’s current season 12: Back To Win with judges: Gordon Ramsay, Aarón Sanchez, and Joe Bastianich did indeed air, and one of the top 20 made their exit at the end.

Tonight’s episode kicked off with them taking a look back at the dishes that sent these contestants home the first time they were on the show. Then, they were told that they had to make a dish inspired by that dish, and they had to make 3 identical portions. They were given 60 minutes to do it.

During the 60 minutes, Tommy said he was adding more to his burger this time than he did the first time. Alejandro said he was having a hard time with his dish at one point. Tommy started running into trouble. He said, “This is tougher than I thought it was gonna be. I’m kinda freakin out a little bit” with 40 minutes to go.”

Emily told Gordon what she’s doing different. He told her, “Welcome back.” Shanika told Gordon about her egg yolk ravioli dish. Gabriel told Aaron and Joe about his dish. He had to redo the pasta.

Tommy told Aaron and Joe about his burgers. Joe told him, “It’s yours to win or lose.” Derrick told Gordon about his cake dish, and he seemed quite confident about it.

At one point, Gabriel said he messed up his dough again at 30 minutes to go. He said, “I’m very frustrated and struggling with the same issues I had the first time I was on the show.”

Cate told Gordon what she’s doing different. He told her, “Good luck.” Willie told Gordon about his cajun dumpling dish.

Michael told Aaron and Joe about his taco dish. Aaron told him, “I like the gumption.” Christian told Gordon about his dish. Samantha told Aron and Joe about her dish. They told her, “Smart move.”

Stephen ran into issues with his dish. He said, “My panna cotta looks like chocolate milk. I have to just hope someone screwed up worst than me. There’s no time to correct it.” Gabriel said, “I’m not exactly proud of my performance with the pasta, but I like the flavors.”

After the 60 minutes was up, the judges looked over everyone’s dishes and immediately picked out 3 top dishes and 3 bottom dishes.

They decided that Willie, Emily and Shanika had the 3 top dishes. Willie presented a Cajun Dumpling with Spicy Vegetable Broth dish. Gordon said, “It looks beautiful. The dumplings are delicious.” Joe said, “It’s flavorable. I really enjoyed it.”

Emily presented a Deconstructed Black Forest Gateau with Cherry-Vanilla Gel, Chocolate Bark and Chantilly Whipped Cream dish. Gordon said, “It’s delicious. I love it. It looks good.” Aaron said, “I’m blown away. It’s truly memorable. Good job.”

Shanika presented a Egg Yolk Ravioli with Mushroom & Ricotta Filling and Brown Butter Sauce dish. Gordon said, “It’s oozing confidence. It’s delicious.” Joe said, “It’s a beautiful thing.”

After all of that, the judges told them they are safe and that Emily had the top dish. So, she got an immunity pin, which keeps her safe from elimination in the next round.

Next, the judges revealed that Gabriel, Stephen and Tommy had the 3 bottom/worst dishes. Gabriel presented a Sausage & Ricotta Cannelloni with Marinara Sauce and Mozzarella Topping dish. Gordon said, “The pasta is way too thick. The inside is not good at all.” Joe said, “After all the investments made in you, that’s disappointing.”

Stephen presented a Cacao Panna Cotta with Blackberry & Gin Sauce and Spicy Hazelnuts dish. Gordon said, “The actual flavor of the chocolate is rich and delicious, but I don’t taste any gelatin. There’s no setting agent.” Joe said, “This is basically chocolate milk. It’s all wrong. It’s terrible. It taste like chocolate milk and not even good chocolate milk.”

Tommy presented a Beef & Chorizo Burgers with Fried Green Tomato and Avocado Truffle Mayo dish. Gordon said, “They look a mess. The buns are missing. They taste quite good, but you gotta deliver the goods.” Aaron said, “I’m grasping for things to really hold on to.”

After all of that, the judges decided that Stephen had the worst dish. Gordon said, “Your dish lacked gelatin and had no chance of ever setting.” Stephen said, “My return was short-lived, but I’m walking out happy. It was good to get that apron for a second time.” How do you guys feel about tonight’s results. Let us know in the comments section.
