The Resident Season 6 January 17, 2023 Episode 13 Is The Finale. Season 7 Not Yet Confirmed
Hey, “The Resident” fans. We hope you guys totally enjoyed the heck out of tonight’s episode 13, especially since it was indeed the final episode of this current season 6. That’s right, guys. Tonight’s episode 13 was the season 6 finale episode. Apparently, FOX decided to order a lot less episodes for season 6. Season 5 had a whopping 23 episodes. So, that was quite the cutback in the number of episodes.
Unfortunately, at this time, FOX has not made an official announcement as to whether or not they plan to renew The Resident for a brand new season 7. So, tonight’s episode 13 could very well be the last one forever. We certainly hope that is not the caste, but it certainly could be. We’ll have to wait and see.
Here is one thing we could do since we don’t have an official, renewal announcement from FOX. We can speculate based on the numbers that season 6 delivered for FOX. We do have the LIVE Neilson ratings numbers for season 6. So, let’s take a look at them right now.
The Resident season 6 managed to average 2.754 million LIVE viewers per episode, and a 0.34 ratings score for the 18-49 year old demographics. The most recent episode 12, which aired last Tuesday night, January 10, 2023, drew in 2.504 million LIVE viewers, and a 0.32 ratings score.
The most-viewed episode was episode 9 with 3.324 million LIVE viewers. The least-viewed episode was episode 12 with 2.504 million LIVE viewers.
The highest-rated episode was episode 9 with a 0.40 ratings score. The lowest-rated episode was episode 11 with a 0.28 ratings score. For comparison purposes, last season 5 averaged 3.117 million LIVE viewers per episode, and a 0.42 ratings score.
So, season 6 performed a little worse than season 5. However, season 5 did have more episodes to get that average. Judging from those factors, we wouldn’t be surprised if FOX canceled it, but if they renewed it, that wouldn’t be too much of a shock either.
It’ll depend on how much they have to pay for the show and whether or not they think they have some other new shows in the pipeline that could perform better for them. In other words, cross your fingers really hard for this one because it could very well be the end of the line for The Resident.
