New 20/20, January 20, 2023 Episode Preview Revealed

Hey, “20/20” fans. Tonight, January, 2023, ABC will be presenting another new episode of its hit news show 20/20. Tonight’s new episode will be the 16th episode of its current season 45. So, that is a lot of seasons. We’re on here to serve up a brief preview to give you some idea of what you can expect from tonight’s new episode.

We were able to track down a very short description for this new episode 16 from ABC’s official episode 16 press release synopsis. So, we’re going to certainly run it by you guys right now. Let’s get into it.

For starters, it sounds like tonight’s new, January 20, 2023 installment will feature a story that is extremely intense, shocking and emotional. They’re going to take a deep look into a story that involved a very brutal murder that took place. What’s even more shocking and sad about it, is that this murder had a shocking witness, which was the young daughter of the murder victim!

ABC’s official description for tonight’s January 20, 2023 episode 16 reads like this, “A brutal murder with a shocking witness — the victim’s young daughter.” Wait a minute. We actually dug up some more information about tonight’s episode. It turns out that ABC released another more detailed and longer press release description.

The victim of this murder is a woman named Kelly Clayton. She was the wife of former semi-pro hockey player Thomas Clayton. He found her dead in their New York home after playing a late poker game. He called 911 to report it. However, as the investigation played out, the police started thinking that Thomas may have actually had something to do with it. And again, Kelly’s little 7-year old daughter Charlie Clayton was apparently a witness to the whole crime.

We’re going to see reporting from 20/20 contributing anchor Deborah Roberts and Nightline co-anchor Byron Pitts. Byron is actually going to do an interview with Kelly Clayton’s hitman Michael Beard. Michael is currently serving a life sentence in prison for killing Kelly Clayton. Michael Beard is claiming that he’s actually innocent, and he will spill his side of the story.

ABC’s longer episode 16 description reads like this, “When former semi-pro hockey player Thomas Clayton found his wife, Kelley Clayton, murdered in their New York home one night after a late poker game, he called 911 in distress. But as police investigated, they discovered evidence calling Thomas’s motives into question and sensed something more sinister at play.

A new “20/20” reveals the twisted plot behind the gruesome murder of the mother of two, Kelley Clayton, and how her 7-year-old daughter was the sole witness to the crime. The program features reporting from ABC News senior national affairs correspondent and “20/20” contributing anchor Deborah Roberts and “Nightline” co-anchor Byron Pitts’ exclusive interview with Michael Beard, the hit man serving life in prison for Kelley’s murder, who claims innocence and tells what he says happened for the first time.

This 2-hour episode includes police body camera footage from the crime scene, as well as video obtained from authorities of police’s shocking interview with then 7-year-old Charlie Clayton, Kelley and Thomas’ daughter.”

Again, 20/20 is all-new again tonight, January 20, 2023 with episode 16 of its 45th season. It will hit the air at approximately 8 pm central standard time on ABC.
