The Rookie Season 5 May 2, 2023 Episode 22 Is The Finale. Season 6 Is Happening
Hey, “The Rookie” fans. We hope you guys thoroughly enjoyed tonight’s episode 22 of The Rookie season 5, especially since it was indeed the very last one to close out this current season 5 of The Rookie. That’s right, guys. There are no more new episodes left for The Rookie this season. It’s a wrap.
However, on a more positive note, we can officially tell you ,right now, that ABC did decide to renew The Rookie for a brand new season 6! That’s right, guys. Your favorite show will be back in action with another season of brand new episodes at some point in the future.
Currently, we don’t have a premiere date for the new season 6 or an episode count. We’re guessing that it will show up during the Fall of 2023 with another full season 22 episode order. Again, we’ll have to wait until ABC confirms that to be 100 percent sure.
According to the folks over at TVLine.com, ABC actually gave The Rookie a little bit of an early renewal by announcing it back in mid-April 2023. They’re also telling us that The Rookie will end up reaching its 100-episode milestone in the new season 6.
According to the LIVE Nielsen ratings, The Rookie season 5 averaged 3.829 million LIVE viewers per episode, and a 0.43 ratings score for the 18-49 year old demographics. The most recent episode 21, which aired last Tuesday night, April 25, 2023, managed to draw in 3.552 million LIVE viewers, and a 0.37 ratings score.
The most-viewed episode was episode 12 with 4.777 million LIVE viewers. The least-viewed episode was episode 2 with 2.931 million LIVE viewers. The highest-rated episode was episode 10 with a 0.64 ratings score. The lowest-rated episode was episode 3 with a 0.27 ratings score.
When you tack on the viewers from the streaming platforms, these numbers actually double with an average of 6.5 million viewers, and a 0.70 ratings score. The Rookie currently ranks number 1 in total audience for ABC, and it ranks number 2 for the demographics right behind Grey’s Anatomy.
With those numbers, it’s easy to see why ABC had no problems renewing The Rookie for a new season. If any of you guys are fans of the show’s spinoff series, “The Rookie:Feds,” we’re hearing it might have some trouble getting renewed. It unfortunately didn’t do nearly as well as The Rookie.
