New 60 Minutes May 14, 2023 Episode Preview Revealed

That’s right, guys. CBS is going to air the next, new episode 34 of 60 Minutes’ current season 55 tonight, and we’ve got some new preview information for it.
CBS put out an official press release for tonight’s new, May 14, 2023 edition. So, we will certainly take a look at it for this preview session. Let’s get into it.
The first description for tonight’s new episode reveals that the 60 Minutes team will do a segment titled, “THE CHURCH’S FIRM.” In this segment, American journalist Sharyn Alfonsi is going to report on a $100 billion dollar fortune that was built by a secretive investment arm for the Church of Latter-Day Saints.
A whistleblower will be featured, claiming that the church used money from their church members to bailout businesses connections to the church instead of good works. David Nielsen who is a former senior portfolio manager for the church’s firm will speak about the part he played in the federal investigation and his decision to come forward.
CBS’ official description for this “The Church’s Firm” segment reads like this, “60 MINUTES reports on the $100 billion fortune built by the secretive investment arm of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and a whistleblower’s allegation that instead of spending the money on good works, hundreds of millions were used to bail out businesses with church ties.

The second description reveals that the 60 Minutes team will do a segment titled, “THE SPERM WHALES OF DOMINICA.” In this segment, the 60 Minutes team is going to take a look at how the sperm whale, which is one of the largest sea animals is currently at risk of being extinct due to noise pollution, ship strikes and plastic trash. American journalist Cecilia Vega will travel to the coast of Dominica to observe the sperm whales and see the efforts that are being taken to protect them.
CBS’ description for this sperm whales segment reads like this, “The sperm whale, one of the largest animals in the sea, is at risk because of noise pollution, ship strikes and plastic trash. Cecilia Vega dives in off the coast of Dominica, where hundreds of sperm whales live year-round, to observe these mysterious mammals and understand the efforts to protect the vulnerable species. Michael Rey is the producer.”
The 3rd and last description for tonight’s new, May 14, 2023 episode lets us know that the 60 minutes team will do a segment titled, “YANNICK NÉZET-SÉGUIN.” In it, the 60 Minutes’ correspondent Jon Wertheim will speak with the music director of three major orchestras Yannick Nézet-Séguin.
Apparently, he has been given the task of revamping the artistic mission of the Metropolitan Opera in New York. Yannick is betting that new works by new composers will bring in a much larger audience and help increase their bottom line. Yannick will also explain why he’s not worried about possibly upsetting opera traditionalists with this radical key change.
