Blue Bloods Season 13 May 19, 2023 Episode 21 Is The Finale. Season 14 Is Happening
Hey, “Blue Bloods” fans. We hope you guys totally enjoyed and soaked up every last minute of tonight’s episode 21, especially since it was indeed the season 13 finale episode. That’s right, guys. Blue Bloods’ current season 13 did wrap up tonight with the finale episode 21. So, it will be a while before you get to see another new episode of Blue Bloods.
With that said, we do have good news for you. We can officially tell you that the CBS people did decide to renew Blue Bloods for a brand new season 14! That’s right, guys. Blue Bloods will be back to present another new slate of episodes for you guys at some point in the future.
According to the folks over at Deadline.com, CBS actually gave Blue Bloods an early renewal back in March 2023. However, it was not a smooth process. Apparently, there was some very difficult negotiations that took place before they got the deal done.
CBS wanted some very significant budget cuts to the tune of 25 percent. The Blue Bloods cast and producers ultimately agreed to take a reduction in their salaries in order to get a season 14 renewal and keep the show going. There’s hundreds of crew and other support personnel who depend on this show for their livelihoods. So, that was also the thinking process behind the salary sacrifices.
Amy Reisenbach who is the President of CBS Entertainment had some very positive words to say about Blue Bloods during the renewal announcement stating, “Blue Bloods has dominated Friday nights since its premiere and remained an important anchor for CBS’ winning lineup.
Led by the outstanding Tom Selleck, and an incredible cast and creative team, viewers continue to embrace the Reagan’s, their law enforcement family, and the series’ dramatic storytelling. We can’t wait to pull a chair up to the Reagan family dinner table for another fantastic season.”
According to the LIVE Nielsen ratings, Blue Bloods season 13 averaged 5.950 million LIVE viewers per episode, and a 0.38 ratings score for the 18-49 year old demographics. The most recent episode 20, which aired last Friday night, May 12, 2023, managed to draw in 5.461 million LIVE viewers, and a 0.28 ratings score.
The most-viewed episode was the premiere episode 1 with 6.397 million LIVE viewers. The least-viewed episode was episode 17 with 5.332 million LIVE viewers. The highest-rated episode was episode 3 with a 0.45 ratings score. The lowest-rated episode was episode 20 with a 0.28 ratings score.
When you include the numbers from the streaming platforms, the average viewership numbers per episode jump to around 11 million. Blue Bloods is CBS’ number 1 most-watched program on Friday nights. It’s also a top 10 series on Paramount Plus and other streaming platforms like Netflix and Pluto TV.
