American Idol May 21, 2023 Winner Revealed In Finale Episode (Recap)
Hey, “American Idol” fans.Tonight, May 21, 2023, the big finale episode of American Idol’s current season 21 did indeed hit the air, and we finally found out who won this thing in the end. The judges: Katy Perry, Lionel Richie and Luke Ryan were on hand once again. Tonight’s finale episode kicked off with rapstars Pitbull and Lil’ Jon performing “Jumpin’” and “Give Me Everything” songs. The Top 12 American Idol contestants eventually joined them on stage for a group number.
Megan Danielle performed, “God Whispered Your Name” song. Afterwards, Lionel said, “Some people just have natural barbecue sauce abilities. I love the cry in your voice.” Katy said, “I like the new version of you. Our job here is done.” Luke said, “You haven’t missed a note while sticking to your own style.”
Iam Tongi sang, “Making Memories of Us” song. Afterwards, Katy said, “That moved us so much. When you sing, I am ready to feel.” Luke said, “You have a natural gift from God. It was one of my favorite performances of the year.” Lionel said, “You are an incredible storyteller. You have a great delivery.”
Colin Stough sang, “Stupid Boy” song. Afterwards, Luke said, “It’s been a pleasure seeing how you’ve grown. You’ve come so far.” Lionel said, “I like your new attitude. Enjoy the ride. We are very proud of you.” Katy said, “That was tenderoni pepperoni.”
Megan Danielle sang, “Faithfully” song by Journey. Afterwards, Katy said, “You are exactly where you are meant to be.” Luke said, “I just cry all the time. The end of the song was one of the best things I saw all season.”
Iam Tongi sang, “Cool Down” by Kolohe Kai. Afterwards, Katy said, “You are the culture. You bring the culture to American Idol.” Luke said, “When you get into that zone of island music. Great job.” Lionel said, “You’ve taken your natural gift. You’re going to spread it around the world.”
Colin Stough sang, “Either Way” by Chris Stapleton. Afterwards, Luke said, “You are so much better than I originally thought you were.” Lionel said, “That’s just a great job.” Katy said, “I love what you just gave us. This song was your sweet spot.”
Lucy Love hit the stage with legendary 90s girl group TLC to perform one of their hit songs “Scrubs.” They sang a medley of songs before finishing up. Zachariah Smith and REO Speedwagon’s Kevin Cronin hit the stage to sing, “Take it on the Run” song.
Next, host Ryan Seacrest revealed that Colin Stough is eliminated and that Iam Tongi and Megan Danielle are the top 2. After all of that, Jelly Roll with Lainey Wilson sang their duet song titled “Save me.” Then, Oliver Steele joined in to sing “Need a Favor” song.
Kylie Minogue sang “Padam Padam” song and “Can’t Get You Out of My Head” song with Nutsa. Lionel Richie hit the stage to sing his song titled, “Sail On.” The top 12 joined him as backup singers. Keith Urban performed his new single “Wild Hearts.” James Blunt and Iam sang Iam’s audition song titled, “Monsters.”
Ellie Goulding hit the stage to sing her single “Miracle” with Calvin Harris. Tyson Venegas eventually joined her to sing her song titled, “Burn.” Lauren Daigle returned to sing, “These are the Days” song, and Megan joined to sing, “Thank God I Do.”
Luke Ryan sang his new song titled, “But I Got a Beer in My Hand.” Colin joined him to sing “Slow Hand” by Conway Twitty. Jazmine Sullivan hit the stage to sing, “Bust Your Windows” with Wé Ani.
Lainey Wilson sang “Heart Like a Truck” song with Marybeth Byrd and Warren Peay. Haven Madison and Katy Perry sang “Still Need You” and “By the Grace of God” songs.
Clay Aiken and Ruben Studdard returned to sing “The Impossible Dream” song. Megan sang her new single titled, “Dreamgirl” for her final “American Idol” performance. Iam sang his new song titled,”I’ll Be Seeing You.” After all of that, host Ryan Seacrest finally revealed that Iam Tongi won this thing, and Megan Danielle was the runner up.
