‘2012′ movie delivered excitement,anticipation & suspense. Columbia Pictures unleashed its world destruction movie on us all,this weekend. I just got back from seeing it,and I must say that I personally was not disappointed with it.

Some critics didn’t like it,but I thought it was a freakin blast to watch. The special effects,the plot,and the buildup ,all served their purpose well.

The movie focused on Jackson Curtis (John Cusack) who’s a limo driver and a father to two kids that are living with his ex-wife and her surgeon boyfriend. And apparently,he had also written a book.

They all eventually came together as one united family when Jackson finds out the world is about to end, from a eccentric loony named Charlie Frost (Woody Harrelson).

Jackson doesn’t believe him at first,however, all the signs started to come to fruition, as the Earth’s crust does indeed start to shift,creating huge cracks in certain places of California.

Becoming aware this, Jackson rents a plane,gets the family,and makes a run for it,just in the nick of time. Unfortunately, more danger awaited, because the whole world was going under water.

Fortunately,the government knew that this event was coming the whole time,and had kept it hidden from the general public to avoid anarchy. They had devised a rescue mission for a certain amount of the population,which Jackson had found out about earlier from crazy Charlie Frost.

So the mission from here on out,was to make it to this rescue attempt before the whole world went under,taking Jackson and his family with him.

Overall, I thought the movie was really exciting to watch. It also had a little comedy surprise in the beginning scenes with Woody Harrelson playing the crazy Charlie Frost, who just loved that the world was coming to an end,and couldn’t wait to be destroyed.

I thought it filled the 2 1/2 hours up pretty good. There was never a boring moment in the film.

“The Box” movie delivered major,unique,weirdness,and it was kinda good. Yes, the new Warner Bros. Pictures movie really outdid itself in the weirdness department. However,it was very unique and kept me intrigued,the entire time. It stars: Cameron Diaz, James Marsden, and Frank Langella .

“The Box” focused around characters, Norma Lewis (Cameron Diaz) and Arthur Lewis (James Marsden) who get offered a mysterious box from a weird old guy named Arlington Steward.

Oh,yeah,and half his face was burned off,to give him some extra weirdness. I could barely pay attention too what he was saying as I gazed at the outline of his teeth and jaw from his burnt off face. But,anyways, I digress.

Okay,so he offers them the strange box,and tells them, if they push the button, someone somewhere in the world, that they don’t know will die. However,they will receive a payment of a million dollars.

Norma ends up pushing it, thinking it was hoax. Unfortunately for them,it wasn’t. I say, unfortunate because after they push it,an overflow of super weird events start happening to them.

People’s noses start bleeding in mid-conversation,strange people watch them from outside their home,and finally their whole family gets abducted by really weird people. It all eventually ends up leading to a very tragic and revealing conclusion.

It revealed that this whole “box offer” thing was a continuing pattern of the film involving one family after another,after they go through the consequences incurred from pushing the button.

It also sent a very good message. The message is, if someone ever offers you a weird, funny, looking box,telling you that if you push the button, someone in the world will die,don’t freakin push it,ok. No matter what the reward is, just don’t push it !!

Overall, I thought the movie was very unique and interesting.I got kind of lost in the middle,due to it being so weird and all. However, the ending sort of cleared up some of the questions I had. It’s a very entertaining movie,and you shouldn’t get bored watching this one,for sure.

“The Fourth Kind” movie showed shocking,crazy,real footage,or what appeared to be real,anyways. Universal Pictures new thriller flick hit theaters this weekend,and I must say, I thoroughly enjoyed. It was way more interesting and crazier than I thought it would be.

The movie is based on a true story that happened over in Alaska,back in the fall of 2000.It starred Milla Jovovich as Doctor Abbey Tyler who claims that she recalls her husband’s murder as an abduction and stabbing.

She did studies on other people in the same town who say they experienced strange phenomena or abductions.She used hypnosis on them.

What’s so interesting, is all this footage is captured live on tape,and they used the actual footage side by side in various scenes of the film.

The results of these studies often ended tragically and ended up getting Abby in trouble with the law,since these what appear to be, supernatural murders and physical damage to be people were hard to prove because the video tape would go all fuzzy when it happened.

However, you could catch glimpses of what appeared to be,people being possessed,in between the fuzziness. One man was levitated off his bed. Abby,herself,also got levitated off the couch.

It was quite eye opening. Unfortunately,this situation didn’t end good for Abby,as her son was eventually taken away from her,and her daughter who she claimed was abducted,was never found.

Even if you don’t believe in this type of stuff,one cannot deny that the movie in and of itself,is very entertaining. I never got bored watching it,and caught myself trying to get a closer look at the actual footage they showed, from her tapings. “The Fourth Kind” is definitely a good thriller movie. Showing the actual footage side by side with the acted out version,made this type of film, much more interesting.

Michael Jackson “This Is It” movie delivered a great,up close look at MJ. Columbia Pictures released the new Michael Jackson documentary/film earlier this week. Along with Michael Jackson, it starred: Kenny Ortega, Travis Payne, Michael Bearden, Dorian Holley, Judith Hill, Orianthi, Tommy Organ, and, Bashiri Johnson.

The film showed up close, behind the scenes, footage, that was taken from over 100 hours of rehearsal footage. The rehearsal footage was from between March and June of this year. It showed interviews with the background dancers that were chosen to perform with Michael,and showed footage of their whole audition process.

It showed Michael performing some of his greatest hits like: Billy Jean,Thriller,Human Nature, Beat It, Smooth Criminal, and The Way You Make Me feel, to name a few. It showed how Michael is a perfectionist,wanting to practice everything until he got it right. It showed him working with a musician on a particular note,making sure he got it right.

It showed good,up close footage of him performing his great dance moves. I especially liked when they showed him performing to “Billy Jean.” It’s my all-time favorite. It showed some great footage of him working with his background dancers,showing them how to perform his classic dance moves.

Michael moved like he was still in his 20’s,hitting every move just as hard,if not harder than his younger dancers. They all stood and applauded when he did his solo “Billy Jean” performance for them.

It was a very enlightening and realistic look at how hard Michael worked to put on a good performance for his fans. I also liked watching Kenny Ortega work with Michael on particular songs,especially “Human Nature.” It was funny to see Kenny get his groove on.

Overall, I enjoyed the film. I think Kenny Ortega did a good job putting all the footage together into a nice neat package. I liked how they interviewed all the various dancers and singers,and showed Michael interacting with them. It’s a definite “must see” for any Michael Jackson fan,but I’m sure they probably already know that.

“Paranormal Activity” movie thrillingly spooked with a great twist at the end. It was very interesting. Paramount Pictures released this drama/supernatural thriller movie, nationwide last weekend,and I totally missed the debut. I don’t know how that happened because this film was awesome and very interesting. It stars: Katie Featherston, Micah Sloat, Mark Friedrichs, Amber Armstrong, and Ashley Palmer.

“Paranormal Activity,” was shot in documentary style and focused on a middle class couple, Katie and Micah who have moved in together. However, Katie has a spiritual being that has followed her everywhere she goes her whole life,and now it’s haunting her and Micah.

Micah sets up a video camera to record what goes on when they sleep at night. They capture doors slamming,footstep sounds,lights turning on, and all sorts of other weird paranormal phenomena that just gets progressively more intense as the film rolled on.

They call up a psychic,but he tells them he can’t help them because he doesn’t specialize in demons. He refers them to a demonologist who’s away, out of town at the moment,but should be back in a few days.

Unfortunately, a few days proved to be too long for this couple,as this demonic being quit playing games and got down to business by used one of the two,to make this story end tragically with one hell of a twist,so to speak.

Overall, I thought the movie was excellent. It was very spooky and never elicited a moment of disinterest from me. The plot and build up from low intensity haunting, to full blown pulling and dragging people out of bed,was great. “Paranormal Activity” was definitely a very unique and interesting way to make a horror film.

“Amelia” movie showed a good depiction of the flying legend, Amelia Earhart,as far as I can tell,anyways. It was well before my time. This movie by Fox Searchlight pictures stars: Hilary Swank, Richard Gere, Ewan McGregor, Christopher Eccleston, and Mia Wasikowska. I thought Hilary Swank did an excellent job,especially with the voice and accent of Amelia Earhart.

The movie showed how Amelia first hooked up with her promoter, George Putnam so that she could become the first woman to fly across the Atlantic. It also showed how she later went on to fly across the Atlantic Ocean for a 2nd time,on a solo flight.

It showed how Amelia became an instant celebrity after she made her first trip across the Atlantic Ocean,and inspired more women flyers. She also ended up marrying George Putnam,and it showed her affair with pilot Gene Vidal.

She went on to do more long flights and even inspired the First Lady, Eleanor Roosevelt. It showed how she dealt with all of her promotional and speaking obligations.

Finally, it showed when Amelia took her most dangerous,and unfortunately her last flight in the summer of 1937. She tried to fly around the world with Fred Noonan. The movie depicted the whole flight right up until she lost contact with Itasca in the final approach over the central Pacific Ocean near Howland Island.

It was very emotional near the end,as Amelia teared up,knowing that this would be the end. Her actual fate,of course,is still a mystery to this day,as they were never able to find the Electra airplane she piloted.

Overall it was a very interesting movie experience for me,since the Amelia Earhart story was well before my time,though I had always heard about her. It was great to finally sit down and watch some form of a depiction of her life.

Universal Pictures’ Cirque du Freak :The Vampire’s Assistant movie brought action and an ok plot . It stars: John C. Reilly, Ken Watanabe, Josh Hutcherson, Chris Massoglia, Ray Stevenson, Patrick Fugit, Orlando Jones, Willem Dafoe, and Salma Hayek.

Although the storyline/plot left something to be desired, “Cirque du Freak :The Vampire’s Assistant” did deliver more action than I had originally expected it to.

The movie focused around character , Darren Shan who is best friends with a guy named Steve. They eventually end up going to a “Cirque du Freak” show that changes young Darren’s life forever.

Darren steals a spider from Larten Crepsley who is a vampire in the show. Darren’s friend, Steve gets bitten by the spider. So in order to cure his friend, Darren must agree to become a half vampire,and be Larten Crepsley’s assistant.

Larten Crepsley’s breed of vampires are in a war with another breed. The other breed want to get Darren to join their side,but he refuses so they turn Steve into one of them,instead. They use Steve to capture Darren’s family and a girlfriend that Darren made, in the freak show. So now, Darren and Steve,who were once best friends, have a vampire showdown, and battle it out to conclude this sort of strange movie.

Overall, the movie was just ok for me. I liked that it had a lot of action, mixed with a little comedy,but the plot left much to be desired. It was the first G-rated vampire movie I’ve ever seen.

Lionsgate’s new “Saw VI” movie delivered more guts, gore, and brutality,as they released the 6th installment of this ever-going franchise this weekend. It stars : Tobin Bell, Costas Mandylor, Betsy Russell, Mark Rolston, Peter Outerbridge, Shawnee Smith, Samantha Lemole, Caroline Cave, George Newbern, Darius McCrary, Shauna MacDonald, Devon Bostick, and Tanedra Howard.

“Saw VI” continued where it left off in “Saw V,” with Hoffman watching Agent Peter Strahm get crushed after tricking him. However, it did start off with another vicious Jigsaw game that involved a guy cutting out his guts,and a woman chopping off her arm to save her life.

Detectives from the past were brought back to figure out the continuing Jigsaw murders.Unfortunately, they didn’t survive long,once Hoffman figured out they were on to him.

Hoffman continued to carry out Jigsaw’s game on more people that Jigsaw picked out. The people included a crooked health insurance manager named William and his associates,a lawyer,and any other people associated with him. Meanwhile, Jill who is John/Jigsaw’s wife was working on a secret plan that John wanted carried for Hoffman.

The movie showed William play a long grueling Jigsaw game that consisted of him seeing people he knew and worked with,face their agonizing demise. After his 60 minute game came to an end,he met another rude awakening,even though he thought he’d won. Also, Hoffman got an unexpected surprise from Jill at the end. However, they definitely left it open for yet another sequel.

Overall, I thought the movie was entertaining. I never got bored,watching the film. The plot was interesting enough,but obviously not original,as this franchise is into it’s 6th installment with no plans to stop. This movie definitely delivers more thrills,guts,and gore.

Screen Gems’ new horror movie, “The Stepfather” brought some very edgy suspense,drama,and thrills in its debut weekend. It stars Gossip Girl’s Penn Badgley,along with: Dylan Walsh, Sela Ward, Sherry Stringfield, Jon Tenney, Paige Turco, and Amber Heard.

This movie was a lot better than I thought it would be,and had a very good buildup, and story plot.

“The Stepfather” mostly focused on David Harris who is a serial killer that preys on divorced women and their families.He apparently looks for families that he can be apart of,without them finding out about his secret of being a serial murderer,but somehow the secret seems to always reveal itself ,and he has to kill the family to clear his trail.

The scenario was no different with the Harding family. However,it does turn out differently. David Harris befriends Susan Harding in a grocery store one day. Then, the next thing we know,it’s 6 months later,and they’re engaged.

Michael Harding (Penn Badgley) returns home from military school to a seemingly warm reception from his new stepfather and family. He went off to military school for being a problem child,but he’s not as big of a problem,as what’s about to occur.

As the movie goes on, different clues start to pop up, which indicate that David may not be who he appears to be. Susan remains blind to the facts,but her friends and most importantly Michael become suspicious,and start checking things out,on him.

David starts secretly starts killing off people he thinks might be a threat to him,keeping his secret. However,he neglects to kill off Michael,as that would be too obvious. This proves to be a good thing for the family, because Michael eventually takes David down in a very suspenseful and thrilling ending. They also definitely leave this movie open for a sequel.

Overall, I thought the movie was excellent. It wasn’t the most unique,but it had a lot of drama,and “edge of your seat” suspense,which always really keeps me into the movie. I never experienced a boring moment while watching it. I thought Penn Badgley did a much better job than I thought he would in this movie. “The Stepfather” is definitely a good suspense thriller to watch.

Warner Bros. new “Where The Wild Things Are” movie was very interesting and unique. It made its nationwide debut this weekend and stars : Catherine Keener, Max Records, Mark Ruffalo, Lauren Ambrose, Chris Cooper, James Gandolfini, Catherine O’Hara, and Forest Whitaker.

I really wasn’t that into the movie at first,as this is not usually my type of film,but as it went along,it started to pick up for me,and I found pretty entertaining.

“Where The Wild Things Are” centered around a young boy named Max who seemingly likes to get himself into troubled predicaments. He starts snowball fights with some kids,and ends up biting his mom really hard when she tries to discipline him.

He ends up running off,and getting in a boat,which eventually lands him on an island where he discovers strange and unique creatures that want to eat him at first,but he convinces them that he’s a king and has special powers. He then leads them to do all sorts of new things,and to participate in his wild ways and games.

He makes friends with some of them,but others didn’t like him that much. They accept that he’s king without asking for any proof of his powers or abilities. He eventually pisses one of them off to the point,that it becomes dangerous. Max eventually realizes that his wild ways may not always be the best,and eventually returns home with a new-found appreciation for his “pre-wild things” life.

Overall, I thought the movie was kind of slow at,but was a necessary buildup for the adventures, that were to follow. It was very unique film. I enjoyed it,which is pretty amazing,since I don’t usually like these types of films. I think it’s a good family movie.
