Melissa Huckaby pleaded guilty to murdering Sandra Cantu today. According to the Examiner , 29 year old Sunday School teacher Melissa Huckaby pleaded guilty to murdering a young California girl named Sandra Cantu earlier today. She entered the plea in San Joaquin County Superior Court to a charge of first-degree murder with a special circumstance of kidnapping.

This comes as part of a plea deal by dropping all the other charges of rape and lewd or lascivious conduct. The guilty plea was apparently unexpected to most people since Melissa was only in court for a routine pretrial hearing. The original charges would have made Melissa eligible for the death penalty if she had been found guilty of them by a jury. Read the rest of this entry »

Los Angeles, CA gets smacked with a 4.4 earthquake today. According to ABC news , the city of Los Angeles, California got smacked with a 4.4 magnitude earthquake earlier today,and it has residents fearing something worse will happen. They say the earthquake shook Los Angeles, California,but caused little damage. However, the residents are fearing a massive disaster like the ones recently seen in Haiti and Chile.

The earthquake happened in the pre-dawn hours,startling residents in their sleep. The earthquake centered about 10 miles east of downtown Los Angeles,and struck shortly after 4am, according to the U.S. Geological Survey. Read the rest of this entry »

Chile earthquake effects Earth’s axis & lost 1.26 microseconds off the day. According to the Los Angeles Times, and their sources, the recent,huge Chilean earthquake apparently effected the Earth’s axis a little bit,and we lost 1.26 microseconds off the day. While we would never notice that short amount of time,it is still a little interesting. At least a lot of Google searchers think so as it has hit the top of Google trends today.

Tsunami damages navigational buoys in Ventura Harbor, California. We’re taking a break from entertainment news to report about this dangerous Tsunami event. According to the Signal , the Hawaii Tsunami has impacted the U.S. California coast and damaged the navigational buoys in Ventura Harbor. They say a tsunami advisory is in effect for the following coastal areas of California: Oregon, Washington, British Columbia and Alaska from the California-Mexico border to Alaska. A small plane crashed into an Austin,Texas commercial IRS building. According to CNN news , a small private plane crashed into an Austin,Texas commercial IRS building. They say that the plane crash is not due to terrorist activities. NORAD launched 2 F-16 fighters in response to the crash. The plane caused a lot of devastating damage. Two people have been taken to the hospital for injuries. The Police have stated that they need to wait before drawing conclusions as to why the crash happened or who is responsible.

A small plane crashed in Palo Alto & disabled power in the whole city. According to the Los Angeles Times , a small plane crashed earlier this morning and caused very big damage in the city of East Palo Alto. It apparently took out power in the whole city. They say it caused a widespread power outage. There were three fatalities for all people who were inside the Cessna 310.

Toyota Recalls Another 437,000 Hybrid Cars Over Brake Problems Today. We’re taking a break from entertainment news to alert anyone who’s driving a Toyota Prius or any of their other hybrid vehicles, to get that thing to a dealership because Toyota is recalling about 437,000 of them. The New York post is reporting that Toyota recalled yet another 437,000 hybrid cars today,which include the Prius model. They say Toyota recalled about 437,000 Prius and other hybrid vehicles worldwide to fix brake problems.

Kleen Energy Plant blows up in Middletown,Connecticut & many injured. According to Foxnews, a Kleen Energy Plant has blown up or exploded in Middletown, Connecticut,and it has caused many people to get injured. They say the explosion occurred just before 11:30am at the Kleen Energy Systems River Road in Middletown, Connecticut. Medical rescue personnel told the Hartford Courant that there were at least two fatalities,and at least 100 people injured. Four people are in critical condition.

It’s also reported that at least 20 ambulances were on the scene,and a witness said, “there are bodies everywhere.” Dozens of witnesses said that black smoke could be seen for miles. Read the rest of this entry »

Pennsylvania goes into “State Of Emergency” due to snow storm. According to multiple news sources, Governor Ed Rendell has declared a “State of Emergency” for Pennsylvania, and Delaware has followed suit due to a blizzard that has produced a Nor’easter which has wiped them out,or blanketed most of the state. Thousands of people have lost power in both of the states. The disaster emergency was declared at about 6:30am this morning. 60,000 people in Allegheny County are without power.
